Thought as much. Hope the Boro game goes ahead though and they don’t decide to postpone all games til after funeral.

That would be a shame. If that's the case, I imagine today's matches would have gone ahead, as the football community now won't get a chance to show support ahead of the funeral. The postponement today was a mark of respect which I understand and personally think is fitting but if there was a risk of next week's games being cancelled, which it now appears, then I think today's fixtures should have gone ahead.

Clubs are planning for the midweek domestic games to go ahead. The games in the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League involving British clubs are all set to go ahead in midweek.

The King has approved the date of the funeral to be a national holiday.

I guess it depends on what day the funeral is. It is suggested it will likely be next Sunday or Monday. It will obviously require a huge amount of policing so I won't be surprised if games are off all next weekend.

Confirmation that the funeral will take place next Monday, on the 19th September at 11am.

Due to the policing in the days leading up to it, I can see next weekend's games being off.

So are we thinking postponed from next Saturday to Monday and all others ok?

That's what I'm guessing but obviously don't know. Seems the most logical though.

Yeh that’s my thinking too. Cheers

I can't see why the non-London games will not take place. I guess the MET may call in for reinforcements for the funeral but the military is also there.

Its early in the season, why can they not swap the games around? QPR could reverse the fixture with Stoke and maybe Watford and boro.

In the prem Spurs are playing Leicester on Saturday, Chelsea and Liverpool could swap and then the only issue game is Brentford Arsenal.

I doubt the funeral will affect Huddersfield on a Saturday.

Re-arranging these fixtures in an already condensed season is going to cause all sorts of logistical problems.

Many teams could end up playing three or even four games most weeks just to complete the season.

Where are these extra police we were told would be on board years ago ????

Same old rubbish which the people in this country take on board - Wake up people :o

These games in mid - week and the weekend should go ahead - Let's hope so :bluebird:

Now that the Funeral is a Monday, I can’t see next weekend games being cancelled

You make very food sense but since when did common sense and fa/efl go together? Except for high profile games policing is very minimal at games so outside of London games should be able to go ahead do let's hope so.

You know as well as I do that changing home games to away games and vice versa in less than a week is extremely difficult.

Fans and officials would have to quickly arrange anything and it's simply not feasible. Managers and players will also prepare for away games in a much different way to they prepare for home games.

Either way, I would expect the Premier League and EFL to make a decision tomorrow. If they do postpone them, they'll need to give fans as much notice as possible.

It's all down to policing really and how much preparation they'll need in the days leading up to the funeral. There are no Premier League or Championship games scheduled for the day of the funeral so no issue there.

I also would hope that games will go ahead. Will allow the football community to show their respects both in midweek and at the weekend.
