Cardiff hero Sol Bamba is still training with Severnside rivals Bristol City, however no decision has yet been made over whether the Ivorian will sign a contract with the club.

Robins boss Nigel Pearson confirmed Bamba was still the club, adding: “It’s to help Sol get fit, that is why he is here. He’s thankful to be able to come in and train.

“He’s a very positive person to have around the place. I don’t have any issues. I have already spoken about trying to help people in the game who need a bit of a leg up. It is really what it is.”



When asked about signing free agents, Pearson downplayed the prospect, saying:

"I will bring players in if they make us better.

“I know we don’t have a lot of numbers but what is the point of bringing players in who aren’t going to affect the quality of the team?

“There is no point for me. There may be players out there, the fact that they are still out there will suggest that there are reasons why deals aren’t done.

“I think you’re aware of what most important is and that is financial implications for the football club.

“Everybody is finding the climate to operate in very different, there are Premier League clubs who are having problems.

“It’s all relative to your own circumstances, we will endeavour to build our squad and develop at the rate we can. That doesn’t mean we don’t discuss it internally that there are discussions we don’t all agree on but that is healthy.”

This is don't understand, we have a relatively young squad, even if its to allow him to get fit, he could have a huge impact on the players at the club, why aren't we offering him the chance to train and get fit here.

Yes I agree. Even if not required as a player, we could keep him here to train with us and offer excellent advice to our own defence. I think possibly bridges may have been burned, possibly on both sides.

I doubt very much what Pearson says .Bamba is there to prove himself with offer of a contract

Sadly his best days are behind him.

Not sure he's up to the demands of Championship football.

But can see him still doing the job for a mid table League One club.

I would have him in the centre back position instead of perry n g if we are not going to bother with the likes of bamba why bring back shaun morrison eho is slower than bamba.

Nobody liked Bamba more than me but there’s a reason he can’t find a club and it’s called age. He’s way past his best unfortunately.

i honestly thought that was why we signed Kipre, an experienced centre halve to play alongside a young NG, who would marshal the team, but he doesn't seem to be the vocal type. and i cannot see either him or NG being dropped and replaced. i think the signing of Simpson, rules out Morison resigning for us i think. and is just with the club to keep fit.
