Not so clever Trevor Sinclair - what was he thinking

Fri Sep 09, 2022 7:44 am

ex city player Trevor Sinclair allegedly tweeting "Racism was outlawed in England in the 60's & it's been allowed to thrive so why should black and brown mourn!!"

That's him sacked from Talksport then. This is the same person who when arrested for drink driving racially abused a copper. He pleaded guilty to DD and racial abuse. What as absolute bell end

I strongly disagree and dislike what he said but its an opinion and he is entitled to it. We have to stop cancel culture in this country and allow ourselves to engage with other opinions, even if we don't and never will agree with those opinions.

Actually yes. He was convicted of racial abuse.

The whole cancel culture phenomenon was driven by those who claim to be Leftwing, sadly till they stop canceling no platforming and censoring nothing will change.

It's just so disappointing in his side. Just an hour or 2 when the UK and the world got given the worst news about her passing and Trevor does something like this on Twitter. I hope he knows how much he has hurt the United Kingdom, when everyone was mourning the greatest inspiration the world has ever seen.

Indeed but we can also support freedom of speech for those even we disagree with in the meantime

Who are speaking for?
Wasn’t bad news for many

Speak only for yourself and others will respect your view, even if different to theirs...

I've certainly heard more sympathy than celebration of HM's passing

All for engaging with other opinions but in this instance he has singled out an individual as responsible for all institutional racism.

What has mourning the Queens passing got to do with widespread racism.

If you don't generalise you open yourself up to libel.

Don't get me wrong - his point is wilfully ignorant and stupid and the best thing Talksport could do is make him go on air and either try and defend it against Simon Jordan or apologise for it

If he has a conviction for racial abuse then whatever your opinion he is a Racist and has a conviction to prove he is

Hitler had an ‘opinion’ would anyone respect his right to talk his stance on genocide? Same goes for ISIS

Sometimes you just have to call it for what it is , and it’s racist and also in eyes if the law a hate crime I believe

He is entitled to his opinion and to air it. But it is an opinion that, to my eyes, is a racist one. As a result he’s likely to suffer the consequences of it.

It was a pretty ill advised comment, that is hardly in the spirit of unity !

He’s already been convicted for a previous racist offence. Just because you are from an ethnic minority doesn’t mean you can’t be racist.

So he can say what he likes but he’ll also have to take what’s coming to him as a result, I don’t think we’ll be hearing much from him on TalkSport in the future !!

Hes history on talk sport...... if I was him I would find a desert island to stay on for couple months to avoid the flack he's going to get for very stupid comments ... yes entitled to opinion but about the queen at time of her death? Like said stupid.

He has a view, you may agree or disagree with it and it may be distasteful or insensitive to some but it's his view. He is entitled to air it.

Just because he brings race into it doesn't mean it's racist.

In any society, there are winners and losers, the queen has been the head of ours for a long time and the millionaire footballer voiced who he thought were the losers.

I get that but it has to be a level playing field.

I agree it’s just his opinion but sometimes opinions have to be kept to yourself. Said for effect.

The trouble is that there’s a huge get area between what’s acceptable and what’s not. Some will say racist while others will say free speech etc.
An I’ll advised comment though whichever way you look at it

I respect most opinions but not by this guy. He's a career race card player, he did it again with his comment about HM and he's also been previously convicted of making racist remarks. He's like Abbott, the worst type that have made a career by purposefully fanning the flames for their own benefit and are racist themselves. He:s now made a forced apology as he's obviously concerned his pundit work will stop and then just when you think he can't go any lower, he's now playing the mental health card. Absolute toe rag.

People like Sinclair realise there’s a supply and demand issue on racism. There’s too often a shortage of supply so they ramp up the demand.

As a white man and grandfather of a beautiful mixed race child, I think Sinclair has a valid point.
Just maybe his timing could have been better.

So in Trevor Sinclairs closed mind we are all wasting our time dutifully ‘taking the knee’ and being respectful whilst being taken, as he seems convinced ‘whites’ are all racist and it suits him for the situation not to be resolved lest he has no ‘card to play’ when it suits him ? If only closed minds come with closed mouths.
