This is why wstters is struggling.... but why cant morison see that? Still think he is defensive minded and needs to be more adventurous in way we play corners same only minimal players in area nothing wrong with one upfront but need rest midfield to be up there supporting also but that is not happening in any game do far.

Not many have seen it and just blamed Watters for everything, we're in a minority of 3 or 4 on here Allan not blaming him for all of our woes.
Like you say we are just too slow at getting the ball forward & on the odd occasion when we do whoever is upfront is isolated & has to hold the ball up waiting for others & meanwhile whoever the opposition are have reorganized. The final third just seems like a no go area for most of our players and everything just breaks down. Stop f*cking around passing in neat little triangles while the opposition get themselves sorted.

Those triangles tend to be in our own half and like you say teams just re organize and there is no way we will score because we've got no one to get behind the defence and if do there is no one getting into area ....or if there is the ball goes nowhere near them.... its so frustrating as we are not a bad side and its early days but dont want to he playing catch up because cannot see us winning 3 or 4 games on trot as we are more win one draw two lose one game kind of team... dont want at end season for us to be saying if only we won some more games instead of drawing them.

Spot on. There is zero creativity in this team at the minute, we have got players who can create but the way we are currently playing leaves us clueless. I do understand that the team is still learning to play with each other. But we’re so slow with getting the ball upfield there’s no space by the time we get to the other end of the pitch, and end up shooting form range. The odd time we actually play more direct to Watters when he runs the channel, again he has nobody in support and ends up going backward anyway. And another of my annoyances is taking people off at half time, if it was a change of shape then yes I have no problem, but he makes changes at half time and does like for like substitutions and we normally look a lot worse.

Why did he take watters of again when hes bringing on Robinson? He does it regularly for dome reason.....Because it did sfa to the performance or attempts at goal.. Harris is not a centre forward so we effectively played 2nd half without a striker add the lack of players in box for corners is it surprising have minimal shots on target all season? Frustrating is understatement considering we are better than portrayed.

Someone at the club needs to step in and advise SM, for all his good work last season, its being undone at a rate of knotts.
If it means bringing in an Andy Carroll, so be it, we desperately need someone to hold up the ball

It's not the formation (i think its Malkys 4141) its the application.
For the first time in years, we are not set up for physical strength, so if we are not planning to knock it into the CF and he holds up the ball what are we trying to do?
Surely whatever variant we play we are trying to get the ball onto the flanks and cause overloads or overlaps, but to do what ?
Cross the ball to the one striker as the CM's don't move out of formation ?
We barely play an early ball behind their back line and Callum Robertsonn is rapid and the only player capable of that is Colwell.
Wintle is neat but he sits so deep he is only passing it to one of the four midfielders in front of him, it breaks down there. Its goes back, sideways then back again, sometimes a clever triangle, but for what purpose? I guess to get the wide mids one on one, but the full backs do a lot of that stuff.
SM is petrified of the turnover so the CM's are static and there to offer protection to the CD's as the full back may be upfield
We are only 8 games in, the next four and really important.

Said 4 games ago he sets up not to lose... there is no ambition to get players in box especially away from home.. at home we attack predominantly on left get down to edge area but that's where we stop because as you say midfield is still on to far back to get in area, against Luton how many times did ball come in and didnt go anywhere near a city player happens a lot at home... frustrating thing is despite our lack of attacking threat we've had chances in every game to score simple chances but fluffed opportunity hence haven't scored 2 goals in a game in 15 matches.. early days but he needs to learn and adapt to what's happening on pitch substitutes are like for like never do it to change way play just to keep status quo..... needs to try something different or situation will continue and we will linger around bottom half of league when could be so much better.

I've been saying this since the start of the season. The one striker is too isolated and continues to get the criticism as the team are not scoring goals.
I very much favour 4-4-2. We need a striker partnership.
Whether we have the strikers currently at the club good enough for this is another matter.
Either way, I think it could be a very difficult season after what appeared a promising start.

I have said from the start Morrison could be anything from a good manager to a complete dud. All these postings are suggesting he has no idea of how to set up a team properly.
I have not checked but is our current position 1 place above the relegation zone the worst we have ever been in since actually getting back to the championship all those years ago.
It is beginning to look like I’m not the only person fed up of being told we just need a bit more patience.
It may be too early to judge yet but there is just the possibility that Morrison is a complete dud.

It's not the formation, it's the speed at which we move the ball forward, by the time we get to the edge of the opposition box they have 10 - 11 players in there all ready and set to block and defend, somehow we need to vary things so that the ball arrives much quicker.
You try and score past 10 - 11 players it's almost impossible, especially as they will have been practising it all week in training.

The issue with us is that we simply do not get enough players forward/into the box. It has been the same in every game ive watched this season and is highlighted in the Luton game. Lutons first goal, their player crossed it in where they had 5 players in the box and one on the edge of the box - 7 players involved. I know we did score from this play, but we were 2-0 in the 85th min and we put a cross to 3 players in the box.
We have the attacking players who are capable of getting forward quickly yet we seem to stop bombing forward when we get into the final 3rd - even when we hit teams on the break.

Surely 2 strikers would get more advanced?
