DEAL HAS BEEN DONE: Cardiff have offered £1.5mill:

Cardiff City have announced the capture of West Brom striker Callum Robinson in a deal believed to be worth £1.5m.

The Bluebirds have taken their total number of summer signings up to 17 with the arrival of the Republic of Ireland international, who joins on a three-year deal.


Confirmation from WBA boss Steve Bruce. On Robinson:



“It looks as if he's on his way, Cardiff I think is the one that's agreed the fee and were willing to Pay it.”
“We always knew we had to balance the books, I wish him the best of luck if that happens.”


“It hasn't gone so well of late for Robbo these past few weeks, but I wish him the best of luck - he's a really smashing lad and a great pro.

It looks like we should succeed in signing Callum Robinson . Obviously Tan is feeling the pressure and has finally opened the purse strings wide open.


The details of our offer are : (1) £1.5 million transfer fee.

(2) £15,000 per week wages.

(3) £250,000 signing on fee over 3 years .

(4) £5,000 appearance money.

(5) the agent is receiving a very substantial fee in order to push him to us.



This information is from a usually reliable source .


If indeed this is true and he does sign for us …… then the whole thing sounds bizarre .

(a) Robinson is quite injury prone.

(b) while is definitely way better than what we’ve got …… he is by no means a prolific striker .

(c) whichever way you look at it this guy is costing us £25,000 - £30,000 per week.


I have very mixed feelings about this ….and will keep my thoughts to myself until something happens …..ie IF (remember we have competition from other clubs).


But to be fair to Tan he is totally backing Steve Morison, Still no more moaning from Morison please.

Think I’d rather Cameron Archer but would be very happy with Robinson. Not a fan of the regime but fair play if we break our structure to sign someone in a position we definitely need, regardless of the wages/fee. Very positive.

wish we could spend a bit more and go for jonson clarke-harris however big improvement on what we have currently

Good player when I've seen him play. Sure I seen him bag a hatrick vs Chelsea one season. The problem is he's injured half the time and we all know we have had enough sit in the stands for a season types although fingers crossed he stays from the stands. If it was my money I'd say no but its not my money thank god

The lad is certainly in demand. Preston want him back and now Burnley are also in for him, so it bodes well that he can do a job. I guess it will be down to money but I hope his head isn't turned and he sees Kompany and Bellamy as a better option. He was left out of the squad last night, the excuse was a hamstring but it certainly appears that he maybe on his way somewhere and I hope it's here.

Roger I feel watters is missing a sidekick to play off .... or can Robinson play upfront on own? Let's hope it comes off and things could start look up fairly quickly.

It's obviously become glaringly obvious to Tan that we need a striker, something we've been saying all summer.

Reports that Burnley, Preston and Bristol City want him as well.


But I really hope this goes through rate Robinson as a striker.

I wouldn't read too much into his stats at West Brom as he has been second choice for a while. When he has played for them, he's often played wide or in a supporting role.

Honestly believe he could score 15-20 goals on this team.

Players like swayers will ge not far off that money, we beat a host of clubs for swayers and that reading lad .they won't be cheap .strikers do cost more .

Agree with this. It's good we've made an offer of this amount and shows that Tan knows we need a striker.

If that's the sort of money we're prepared to offer, there's been probably a few dozen strikers that would have fitted Morison's criteria that we could have signed already. Extremely doubtful IMHO.

Morison has already said players chose other clubs over us, he named a few of them last night. A bit like we've had players choose us over other clubs this summer.

We also don't know whether Tan has decided to spend some money due to our attacking difficulties in these last two home games.
