If Cardiff sign any strikers in this window my money would be Hugill and/or Villa's Cameron Archer.

The later's agent is Unique Sports.

The agency list Ralls, Sean Morrison, Tommy Doyle and Keifer Moore as their clients.

Archer's new deal at Villa Park - he is contracted until 2027 puts him on around £6,350 per week, which is well within Cardiff's current salary cap.

Archer had a decent goal ratio at Preston last season and is a mobile striker who plays off the shoulder of a defender.

I think Burnley and Preston are sniffing too, but I would say we have an excellent relationship with the Villains.

VIlla Stephen Gerrard gave Ojo a great reference both from a Liverpool and Rangers perspective.

Villa totally supported Cardiff's move for the Peter Whittington memorial match this autumn and allowed the Bluebirds to borrow Jayden Philogene because they approve Cardiff's new-style playing approach.

The Villa are keen to see their younger players be nurtured properly.

Archer has been my first choice all summer.

On the other hand he is more likely be a regular starter with us and that may work in our favour.

I would normally say we would have no chance with Archer but we offer a unique proposition for a young forward in that he will be the main man and not back up. I still feel however he will get better offers in terms of clubs looking to do a bit more this season and therefore as an attractive proposition he may go elsewhere (think how many he may score for Burnley playing less than he might at us)

Its been explained by Morison that theres no salary cap as such, just a rough total figure that when divided by the numbers in a squad equated to around 12 grand a week. Some will be higher some will be lower.

The way this team is playing I would certainly say that with a decent striker or two (I include Etete) we could be top half of the table and that puts the playoffs in sight.

We have made more clear cut chances in the first few games than we did in half a season last year. That’s why I’ve been so critical of Watters, he’s had good chances and those misses have cost us at least 4, and maybe 6, points so far.

So do I a decent Striker at the start of the season and we would be top now, we've played really well (most games) and we've missed so many easy chances

Got good keepers, good defence, a really decent midfield, plenty going forward so yep for me 1 maybe 2 good strikers ( one youngster and one experienced) and no reason why we cannot be up top somewhere come May.

If we don't sign any strikers by Thursday, then Morison should start with James Crole on Saturday, I know he is only 18 but at least he knows how to get in the box and score,

Think the two we are using at the moment are completely low on confidence and need to join the under 21 squad for a while to rebuild their confidence

If we sign Archer he is our no 1 striker for sure even if we sign Callum Robinson (who would add to our winger ranks and can play there as well)

If we get both I could see Harris and watters going out on loan
