Stoke City CONFIRM the appointment of Alex Neil as manager....

He broke the record for the most games managed in English football while at the Riverside stadium, with 1,602.

The 73-year-old announced at the time that he had retired, but he could now be set for a return 42 years after his first management job with Gainsborough Trinity.

According to reports in the Sun, Warnock has told friends he would 'jump' at the chance to manage Sunderland, and has made his interest clear to Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman.

They also claim one of the manager's 'biggest regrets' in football was turning down the Sunderland job in 1992, and he is now looking to make amends.

It has been a reasonable start to the Championship for the newly-promoted side, as they currently sit in 12th after six games.

A club of Sunderland's side will be hoping for a promotion push in the near future, and no manager in history has as many promotions in English football as Warnock's eight.

Rog,

I think Tony Mowberry has already been announced as Manager!

TONY Mowbray will become the new head coach of Sunderland replacing Alex Neil in the dugout after successful talks over the weekend.

Following conversations with the Black Cats hierarchy, free agent Mowbray has been chosen as the successor to Neil who completed his switch to Championship rivals Stoke City on Sunday. The 58-year-old was in attendance for Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off against Norwich City at the Stadium of Light which ended in a 1-0 defeat.

The appointment could be confirmed by the Black Cats later today but he is not expected to be in charge of their Championship tie against Rotherham United.

Don’t forget his record number of relegations and sacking including us! Also wasted millions of pounds on crap signings and the reason we are now broke!

You are not keen then ? God knows where we would be now if he didn't take the job and ignite the club and fans would love to see some of that passion again on and off the pitch
