Club statement sala

Fri Aug 26, 2022 2:36 pm

Cardiff City is disappointed by the decision of the Court of Arbitration in Sport.
The award fails to decide the crucial question of FC Nantes (and its agents)’ liability for the crash, which will therefore have to be decided in another forum.

Once the club’s lawyers have digested the reasons for the decision we expect to appeal and will not be making any payments to FC Nantes in the meanwhile.

If those appeals are unsuccessful and the club is liable to pay the transfer fee the club will take legal action against those responsible for the crash for damages to recover its losses. This will include FC Nantes, and its agents.

All our thoughts must continue to be with Emiliano’s family, who are now supported financially by the Trust the club put in place for them.

CCFC - Are disappointed :o If THEY / WE had sorted the transfer to getting the player here in a safe way -

None of this would have happened - Embarrassing the way the club have handle this

RIP - Emiliano Sala .

I can only agree with TopCat.

There doesnt lately appear to be a recognition that a life has been lost, and a moral, ethical obligation to the outside world has always been on the minds of football fans.

I am sure that had we paid the first installment, CCFC and Nantes would have come to an amicable agreement on the remainder.

This will have a far bigger impact on us than many think moving forward and may finish Cardiff City as we know it as a football club.

Think people should look at nantes victory speech.. makes ccfc statement seem apologetic in comparison.
We are now getting same crap spoken about ccfc by "fans" as was when tragedy happened .. :?

Where?

Jules, this was one place...

Personally, I don't believe those words would be with the blessing of Vincent Tan

Comes across as very unprofessional and seemingly knee jerk?

I have my suspicions... ;)

Seriously offered a flight by our club ??? - Well I would have taken a flight from Charles De Gaulle - Any day .
Sadly ES wanted to say his Good Byes to his team mates before leaving - That was the delay .
So why not respect that decision and book him on a flight later ....Rather than get him here earlier ????

The agent who was planning all this and had his 2 sons on our books at the time - Who ALL disappeared soon after :o
So Jules - Your saying he made the wrong decision and that cost him his life - Really :o

The usual case with any accident is that there will be numerous steps along the way where the event could have been avoided. The Club did offer a flight to Sala. What happened after is down to many factors and many people, and yes sadly Sala’s own decisions were part of it. For me the agent and the pilot who took the booking are most culpable. Not Cardiff City and not Nantes.

Who ever did those words they were very amateur and rushed.

The board need to finally face the truth Sala was our player before he died.

As to suing agents they are skint.

Deduct the agents fees which were a few mill.

It wasn't an accident...

An 'accident' is an 'unforseen sequence of events, resulting in injury and/or death'

It's why the Road Traffic Act was updated to 'Road Traffic Collision' and would be the same for the Sala tragedy, which was forseeable and preventable had the aviation rules and plain common sense been followed

Firstly, common knowledge that a scheduled flight option was not taken up.
Yes a second flight was arranged by the agent ,why ?? Haven't a clue.
I have always questioned why NW had those two sons at the club, which raises the question of NW involvement with said agent.

Finally NO I am not saying his decision cost him his life that was someone else so get your f*cking facts right.

Tragically TWO Yes TWO men have died but the truth will out in the end I am sure and then we hopefully will get to who exactly was involved and personally I think some on here will be surprised and disappointed.
As I have since mentioned, I am out of this until the legal eagles have done.

The club have now another option.

The agents that acted on behalf of nantes offered the botched travel option.

So at a long shot can sue on these grounds nantes, agent and travel firm.

They have to accept he was our player. Essentially pay the transfer. But now open up another legal battle on relation to how it happened and who's to blame.

They can try their luck at loss of earnings due to relegation (but this usually gets no where).

But they can argue the fact it was transport of a player from nantes to Cardiff, that they have purchased on the belief of nantes providing safe travel.

I know this will sound awful the lad decided not to fly on an arranged normal flight he or someone decided on an alternative and potentially less safer crossing . If had that sort of money I'd not be boarding some clapped out small plane not up the job that time of the year ..
