Cardiff City player today goes out:

Thu Aug 25, 2022 1:09 pm

As posted on here, but denied on Media Wales last week:

Eli King joins League 2 Crewe on loan

King 20 years old in a few months, very shocked he has been loaned out as should be good enough by now, as was hailed a great player.

Loan | @Eli8King has today joined @crewealexfc on a temporary deal until January 1st, 2023.

All the best, Eli!

My question is what’s happened to all these so called quality players we had coming through???

Steve Morison last season:

"I’ve been excited about Eli King since I first walked through the door. He is an excellent player," Morison said. "He has had a few knocks, but he has really found himself in terms of his size, attributes and quality he has, he will be a big asset to the team.”

Re: Cardiff City player today goes out:

From what I’ve seen of him I don’t think he’s championship standard st the moment so a loan (particularly somewhere like Crewe) seems a good move for all concerned.

Re: Cardiff City player today goes out:

Thu Aug 25, 2022 1:26 pm

This is a cracking loan. Crewe is a great place to learn your trade and whilst King is a very talented player, he needs match experience and he will get that at Crewe.

He might well be able to contribute to our first team but he needs more games than just the odd start and bench appearances.

Re: Cardiff City player today goes out:

Thu Aug 25, 2022 1:31 pm

What I’ve noticed is Glen Williams / Dalman build them all up as top quality, then off they go to League 2 / Non league on loan etc, but how many come back and really make it as Championship players???

Re: Cardiff City player today goes out:

Thu Aug 25, 2022 1:39 pm

They have a good record of developing players who play the right way who go on to play at higher levels, and the squad is generally very young so he should fit in well. Let’s just hope he does come back a better player and go wayside like the rest. I would if looked for League 1, though Crewe do have a good name

Re: Cardiff City player today goes out:

This is a sensible loan. It doesn’t mean that Morison doesn’t rate him he just wants to see him playing regularly.

I’m yet to be convinced by King but he’s young enough and this move could be the making of him just like so many other players going out on loan as youngsters to develop.

A good move all round.

I agree probably not good enough for us.

But the way the media has been going on the last 2 years about how great our youngsters are, I would love to see them actually make it, but so far 99% have just disappeared.

I got slated last year and the year before for saying I can not see them being Championship material, max 2 as soon would be fantastic.

King gone to Crewe - happy?

It’s great. Great for us as a football club. He’ll go and apply and learn his trade at Crewe. They play in a similar style to how we like to do so he’s not just gone anywhere. He’s got to go and learn in the fire down in League Two. It’ll be great for him. All the things we think he needs to work on and get better at, he gets to do on a Saturday with three points on the line.

Only until 1 January so it seems a sensible move to pick up some experience if he is not in Morrisons immediate plans.

Good move for him and hopefully comes back a better player but does make you wonder if the system is working at city as most of our youngsters seem to go out to league 2 and below .Hearing is deceiving, seeing is believing….
Bit of hype going on at times …only Colwill and Davies look like living up to it

I want all these lads to do well, but you’ve actually said what I am saying, what’s happening to all this amazing talent we were suppose to have had.

How many have started a game this season?

Really don't get this perspective. He's 19 years old! He needs games and that's what he's getting. It's obviously a positive move.

Mate the lad is nearly twenty years old, by now you would know if he is good enough, great for the lad, but don’t see how league two helps us? The lad ain’t good enough if he was Morison would play him

Who would you have him replacing the current starting 11 then if your not happy hes going out?

This is a good move for him and its how all our most promising youngsters should gain experience.

Read carefully Eli Ling was praised by Morison, McCarthy and the Media and made out to be another one of our great players to come through, yet, yet again another one of all the apparently great players going out to league 2.
I never said I rated him highly??

They all did.

How many of our so called great players that have come trough in the last 2years have started this season ?

I got slated when I said I never thought they were all good enough.

So I am asking how come if they were all great , what’s happened to them??

I want our kids to come through, but suddenly 12 at once does not happen and I said that, and got slated.

Great move for him, I agree and maybe his standard.

For me nearly 20 years old, if he’s good enough he would stay with us and be battling for a first team place.

What's with calling him nearly 20 too

He's 19

They were praised, so what. Do you think we are the only club who praise their youngsters? If you're 19 years old and your an established and consistent CM in the championship, you're not staying in the championship long. With very little championship experience, he isnt replacing any of our current midfielders. Not saying he will, but if he is going to make it, this is the best route for him and should be how all our most promising players go. Even prem teams loan players to leagues below. Its how players gain experience and step up.

All 12 were never going to make it. Even the most optomistic poster probably didnt think they would either. Who said all were going to make it, exactly? You repeat this several times a week yet never say who you're talking about. Not sure what youre trying to achieve bringing up old arguments to be honest.

Yes I do, making out that 12 players all at once were good enough for the Championship and yet please answer how many have started this season in the Championship???

You can’t admit that media and Dalman made out we had all these amazing players and yes they were put in to the City Squad

And yes I said at the time, NO way will all these be good enough, be lucky if 2-3 of them are and I got slated , so yes I bring it back up as I am suppose to forget , No I won’t because they took the piss out of us and nearly got us relegated the Regime by demanding they were all put in.

Just looked through your posts, it seems you love trying to prove me wrong.

Probably because I don't agree with the negative spin you put on things.

Not saying you should forget about it. But you clearly feel strongly enough to keep bringing it up. Call the people out and be done with it and move on. It's like you're happy things went south last season just so you can give it the 'I told you so'.

Your aiming this argument at me like I said all 12 were good enough. It was never going to happen. I cant recall anyone or the media saying all 12 would make it either. Players were praised in the media, yes. It happens every year at every club. Who are these 12 players anyway????

But just for balance id imagine Colwill and Davies would have been more involved so far if it wasn't for injury. Denham in the mix as well starting in the cup game. If we can continue to bring 2-3 players through a year to supplement the squad, we are doing better than most.

I am putting a negative spin on it because it was pure bullshit

As to bringing in 2-3 players a year I would love it.

Let’s hope we just still bring in for last season as to this season , maybe Rubin’s brother.

I would love to see it happen

I know what you mean but King may really benefit from this move and, in turn, so will the club.

I wouldn’t rule out King making it with us yet and the benefit of such a good couple of windows lately is that it has bought players like King, Colwill, Denham and Davies the time to develop at their own pace rather than being rushed into the first team.

I think those four have a finding chance, or higher, of making it at this level and that would be an outstanding return. However, we now need to be looking at the next group of youngsters coming through. Looks like there’s 2/3 of them that we have high hopes for so let’s hope we’ve turned the corner and started the ongoing process and not just one lucky group.
