SLIGHTLY OT: JACKS IN MELTDOWN

Wed Aug 24, 2022 9:22 pm

I had a conversation earlier with a member who observes Planet Swamp and it seems the Jack Army are going into meltdown over their start to the season and the lack of investment from their owners

Former players are also saying the Yanks need to sell up, as they are supported by a Hedge Fund and appear to be looking for at least a partial return on their 'business' investment

Falling out of the Premier League was not part of the initial plan and it has hit them hard; although a sale in $'s in the current poor £ exchange markets could soften the blow somewhat, shoukd they decide to cash in

Russell Martin has been told he has to sell before he can bring new players in and he doesn't even have the budget for a loan. Indeed, he has been told to 'develop assets to sell' rather than building for the future

Sound familiar? It smacks of us a year or so ago and we know how that went

The difference between us and them is the type of ownership and whilst Vincent Tan has made mistakes (for me and my friend the failure to appoint a proper Director of Football one of the biggest), I'd rather have him and Steve Morison right now than a Hedge Fund and Russell Martin

Long may they (the Hedge Fund and Russ) continue down the M4 West; it keeps the fairweather rabble quiet... :ayatollah:

Could the exchange rate count against them though? If the base currency of the fund is in US
Dollars and they invested in £, selling in £ now and translating back into USD will see them get even less of a return?
Don’t really care either way and as posted above the way we are in derbies they’ll probably beat us again since they’ve turned into a proper bogey team :banghead: :bluebird:

I’d be happy for them to do the ‘Doube’ over us if it meant us getting into playoffs.

I'd be happy for them to do the double over us IF it meant they end up being relegated.

Same here mate, it's just a game, it's where we finish and what direction the club is heading in that is important, thicko Jacks don't understand that it's their World Cup :laughing6:

I don't understand why they all hate Martin so much. I think he has done alright there. If they had just held on vs Millwall they would be in a similar position to us which isn't a bad start considering their lack of investment.

They delighted in telling us how we had sold our soul and that it would never happen to them. Well it looks like they've literally sold their soul to one of the worst possible owners, a yank hedge fund who made a bad bet and now want to recover some of their losses. They moan they want the yanks out but will do zero about it, at least we protested until we got our colours back. We are in a much better place than them and building for the future. They don't even own the rusty stadium they visit while wearing their pikey Joma kit.

Will they beat is again? Maybe. It will take me a few days to get over it but they'll have to endure their dire situation for a lot longer. Once a model PL club and now completely tinpot, and a rusty one at that.

Sadly they've got memories I can only dream of as a Cardiff city supporter 7 years in the premier League and a major trophy in the cabinet.

We’ve had two prem years, an fa cup final, league cup final, play off final. I’m happy with that.

Yep a couple extra mid table or bottom half Prem seasons isn't much more to shout about.

7 years in the EPL , and what have they got to show for it ?
Didn't invest a penny . They could have bought thier stadium etc.
But they are happy to settle with , being the double winners. Thats the height of their ambition.

Their only 'ambition' is a two-game season that has a social effect on anyone wearing white and black within a 10 mile radius of The Library...

Okay, I'll play along; it's actually a 'Quiet Room' with a few colouring books and crayons to keep the occupants from boredom

Occasionally, the peace and quiet is interrupted when 22 blokes and some loud guy with a whistle run on to the pitch and spend an hour and a half kicking a ball into a net; usually at the same end... ;) :laughing6:

They had one but it was not used since the 60's so they've modernised it and got into the new technology in Swansea, so it's now a Blockbuster
