MY VIEW:
NEED FOR A STRIKER OR TWO :
Almost …. Every man and his dog knows that we need at least one striker and preferably two.
Most fans have grown hoarse calling for that ….however , some believe that Watters and Harris are not getting enough service ….. and while they may have a point ….. but that is not my view.
I believe that Watters and Harris are not up to the level we need ….
. Etete appears to be a bit raw and is work in progress , so we can not risk our season on him . As for Davies it will be a big risk to put our bets on him producing the goods ….if at all.
With no money to spend ….it is going to be a tough job for Morison to unearth a proven Championship striker and/or a high quality Premiere League young player …. who can not yet be in contention at his club.
Morison has finally , all but admitted that we are short on strikers .
My view is that we will sign a striker before the window closes.

Agree with all of this Annis.
I also think we’ll sign 1 or 2 strikers and maybe a left back but I think it’ll be very close to deadline day when players’ and clubs’ have no time to wait any longer.

I cannot understand why we pay over £500k for Etete and he is in the bench. It is like Man City with Harland being on the bench. With the money paid for Etete we could have got a good premiership loan signing for the season.

What frustrates me is that he seems to rule out taking experienced players in their 30s when maybe a bit of experience is exactly what we need right now. We've got young strikers with potential completely misfiring and having an old head around to take the pressure off and learn from would be invaluable. A loan signing to January or a short contract for six months/year for a free transfer. Its simply unthinkable not bring in another player before the window ends and if we don't I really do fear we can easily go backwards rather than forwards. I dont expect promotion this year but I can't tolerate another slide to the bottom three and us not turning up for big matches. Important few days for Morison, he needs to get this part of the jigsaw right.

I agree.
My hope that Hugill will come back is probably not going to happen as his wages, and fee, are likely to be too high. Even though Morison was quite cute in saying he won’t be signing 32, 33 or 34 year olds when Hugill is only just 30 !!
But I still think there are good Prem loans to be had.
Morison and his team have pulled off some great signings so far, let’s hope he’s got another one up his sleeve.

Don’t know if I’ve missed an update but Igovernor claimed two strikers close if not already agreed to come?
Morrison seemed to contradict this notion mind

Morison been found out, he knows there's money there for a striker but thought his plan of moulding Max has blown up in his face.
Tue Aug 23, 2022 8:16 am
I don't think he ever planned to mould Max.. it's more that it's hard to get good strikers in on little money so was backing what we had in the hope they might come good.
Now it's obvious they won't so is fed up of defending them and will push for a new striker

Surely no one believes Morrison wanted to mould max. He wrote max off last season but has had little choice but to play him this season. He defended him because he needed max to perform but it has not happened. Morrison’s frustrations were evident after the game Sunday and I can assure you Watters is not wanted.

Perhaps I will rephrase that.... Not mould him but get him to change style as Max can run the channels as we all see but is not getting the goals Morrison wants, still think he is out of his depth though as he cannot change a game with his subs , eg, £500,000 striker who got 8 minutes!!! Rubin's game time is worrying me and I hope we don't lose him on deadline day.
Heyho joys of supporting the City lol.

I thought i had read that money would be available for a striker or was that it with the guy from spurs i wish either morrison would say its up to the board or him because someone is dragging there feet on this its all very cloak and dagger for us fans .

Amazed by this to date with our strikers - SM was a striker in his day
This should be the part of the team which he has the main call on to what he looking for

We have had this before and in the end had to go with what we had all this delaying but morrison has said he cannot magic someone out of thin air so are the board offering him money to pay the wages such as hughill or not.

If he's playing for his parent club it doesn't matter if the board are willing to pay the wages. He's been here before & even if he was sent out on loan what makes people think he would want to come back rather than trying somewhere else anyway?
If we don't get anybody it obviously won't be for the lack of trying. Except in our minds Cardiff wouldn't be too many players first choice of places to go.

Hughill was just an example of a high wages player i was highlighting it could be any other player morrison says there's nothing available but not the reason why is it funds? after the board said there would be and £500,000 was available for the spurs guy was that the total he had to spend? and it seems the likes of watford sunderland burnley etc are ready to snap up whats available on loan with a bigger budget.

There may or may not be funds available but Morison isn't going to tell anyone if there is, the price just goes up when you have money to spend & people know it. Watford & Burnley are still spending like they're in the PL & I would put us some way below them in the money to spend department but I also don't think we're in the poor house, just trying to get the best bang for our buck.
Very much doubt the 500k was his limit if the right player becomes available & wants to come here. The wanting to come to Cardiff is the part that always worries me.
