Set pieces

For many years we've always been a real threat from attacking set pieces and pretty solid when defending them but this season it seems a bit different.

I'm sure we all remember the recent seasons where we were always amongst the teams that scored the most goals per season from set pieces but so far we seem to pose little threat from our corners or free kicks. I know that O'Dowda scored from a free kick at Reading but apart from that and perhaps a chance for Kipre at the back post against Birmingham, we've not really posed much of a threat at any set piece.

The delivery from Wintle has not been great often not getting past the first man at corners and I've no idea who would take a direct free kick if we ever get one near the opposition goal.

I also feel a lot more nervous when we're defending corners or free kicks now than in the last few years.

Nobody wants to go back to the days of constant long throws and giants throughout the side but set pieces can be a vital source of goals and if we are struggling with our strikers this season then it would be nice to think that we could get some goals from set pieces.

Tbf to Wintle, there aren’t as many obvious targets to hit as in previous years but I do see your point. For the first time in years, I get nervous when we concede a corner or an attacking free kick.

I would guess that Colwill or Ralls would take any free kicks around the 25 yard mark - if they are on the pitch that is...

Could try putting players in area for corners? For one i counted 4 players and they were more than 12yrds from goal at one stage!! got teamed midgets except for etete 6'4 but wouldn't know he was that tall...

It might help if it didn't end up getting passed back to our keeper almost every time we get a free kick in the opponents half.
