Preston's potential injury boost:

Preston North End could be boosted by the return of Alvaro Fernandez at Cardiff City this weekend, but Ryan Lowe says the teenager will not be rushed back.

After making two assists in the Carabao Cup two weeks ago at Huddersfield, the on-loan Manchester United man was forced off at half-time with a knock to the ankle, and has missed four games since.

However, he could now be in line for a return in south Wales, with Sean Maguire and Bambo Diaby both going well after their respective injuries too.

"Bambo is back on the grass and Alvaro is back on the grass, which is good," said Lowe. "Those two will join in with parts of training today. Seani definitely is - he has been with us - but Hughesy won't be on the grass today. At the moment, touch wood, the treatment room is empty.

"Providing that they all come through today then they potentially come into contention. But, there is no real rush with any of them is there? We've got a squad and we've got good depth within the squad, so I wouldn't really push it. Alvaro might make it; we will have to have a discussion after training and see how he reacts. Seani could potentially make it as well but we have a squad, so we'll see how they all go today and tomorrow and then take it from there."

I do agree at a 0-0, or at best a one goal victory, but for whom?
We seem to be teams well matched, and it'll be close.

Steve Morison:

"I wonder what their manager is being asked! The hardest thing to do in this league is keep clean sheets. They’re around is terms of stats. I expect it to be a very tight game. Can we be the team to score against them?"

Ryan Lowe:

“I expect a footballing side under Steve Morison; I think he’s doing a terrific job.

“He’s got some good players in, he’s recruited smartly and they’re playing a different brand to what Cardiff used to play. We know it’s going to be a tough encounter, especially with their fans, and going to their stadium’s always tough, but it’s one we’re looking forward to.

“They have had a lot of change and there’s different personnel, but I think any Steve Morison team is always going to compete no matter what.”

Cardiff City are unbeaten in six league games against Preston (W4 D2) since losing 1-0 in December 2017 under manager Neil Warnock.

Preston North End have won one of their last 12 away league games against Cardiff (D5 L6), a 1-0 win in 2017-18; they haven’t scored in their three visits since then (D2 L1).

Cardiff haven’t scored more than once in any of their last 11 league games, netting just six goals in this run. They’ve failed to score in their last two games (D1 L1).

Preston’s five league matches this season have seen just one goal scored, a Brad Potts winner against Luton Town. It is the fewest goals scored in a team’s first five matches in a Football League season in history.

With five clean sheets in their opening five league games this season, Preston are looking to become the first English league team to keep a clean sheet in their first six league matches of a season since Chelsea in 2005-06, and the first in the second tier since Oldham Athletic in 1986-87.

Lindsay puts it out for a throw under pressure from Watters midway inside the Preston half.

Colwill nearly makes something happen.

Does well to get a corss away on the left.

It's curled in towards Philogene on the edge of the six-yard box, but his header across goal is cleared.

Colwill pings a cross ball towards the same target a few moments later, but he can't control and gives away foul on the byline.

Colwill started well, put in a good cross.
