Nathan Jones haf a scathing attack on those who put together the EFL fixture lists...
Luton have endured a slow start to the season, registering just one win so far in a far cry from the dizzy heights of last season which saw them achieve an improbable play-off place finish.
And Jones puts their sluggishness down to the schedule, hitting out at the EFL over the way the fixtures have fallen for them.
"We have had a ridiculous month," he added. "I don’t know who is doing the fixtures. You had Millwall having to come here on Tuesday night and then go to Norwich on Friday. We had to go to Bristol on Tuesday and then come back down the M4 today.
"It took us nearly seven hours to get to Swansea on Friday because we don’t have the finances to fly. Some absolute buffoon somewhere is setting these fixtures. Nobody is looking at how we can look after these players. We didn’t get back until 3am on Wednesday morning and then we had to come to Swansea on Friday.
"Half of the M4 was shut, you come past the Brynglas Tunnels and it was carnage. It is terrible and the EFL don’t do anything about it.
"I am proud of that performance and we know where we are as a team. We work hard as a team and we are hungry and humble. We won’t get carried away, but this is something to build on in a really long season. We had less rest than any of the others teams, other than Huddersfield a disjointed pre-season with flights. That’s why we started slowly.

I tend to agree. The mind often boggles at some fixture choices and I feel for any team that has to travel through Newpot on a Friday afternoon; particularly when Slumsea is their destination...

I admire what Nathan Jones has done at Luton and i agree the fixtures at times can be a bit thoughtless -for the fans mainly- but is he really complaining because they had Bristol City away on a Tuesday night followed by the Jacks 4 days later?

I think it was clear Bristol City were fresher than us for similar reasons. Bristol City had an extra day's rest as they played home to Luton on Tuesday, while we were away to West Brom on the Wednesday.

We also have Boro away in midweek coming up. Followed 4 days later by Huddersfield away.
A nightmare for fans, but also what about the players? I assume they might look at staying up that way for the week? But that's not ideal either.
Wednesday is a write off if they are coming home, and then they'll travel again on the Friday

Well hes not complaining because he lost Saturday they won..... so got to give it a bit of credence as he says spent 7hrs on coach to get to Swansea? Sure better use of time than sitting on transport ....

And so say all of us. But its hardly the EFL fault that the Bryn Glas tunnel area can be is a nightmare.

He should manage Plymouth or Sunderland ffs. Brynglas tunnels is what it is, South Wales clubs navigate them every away game
