In Morison we trust

Sun Aug 21, 2022 1:37 pm

He and his staff have done agood job keeping us up and now in rebuilding and creating a new, more entertaining way of playing for City. Remember the last weeks of Mc Carthy, Marlon Pack et al! The team is bound to have mixed results but the directuon of change is good.
We need to support him and the team.

The problem area is clear to one and all.
Morison made it pretty clear in his Sky interview that he knows we need something different upfront.
I am confident we will have another striker in a few days, (and then one or two leaving). :bluebird: :bluebird:

We expect up and down results it’s just the manor of losing in another derby that has upset people more than a normal loss.

Hopefully we can get a striker in next week before Preston who are yet to concede this season so far

Yet another Derby defeat and surprise surprise SM throwing his players under the bus. Gutless toothless pathetic are 3 words I’d use after today. Outfought and outthought. In SM I DONT trust!!

Quote you: "Gutless, toothless, pathetic..."

Sounds like you've thrown the players (quote again) "under the bus" and not honest Steve Morison

Has Morrison actually done that good a job in rebuilding the squad? It seems to me it could go either way we have a decent midfield and defence but the most woeful strikers in the championship Morrison must surely know how bad Watters & Harris are sadly he has done little to address the problem, we are the lowest scoring side in the championship.

As for the scintillating football we are playing I suppose some people like to see a lot of passing but when it leads to us scoring 3 goals in 6 games I find this type of football totally boring.

It may well be that he turns out to be a good manager or a totally mediocre one. We don’t know that yet

But you know he's done little about getting a striker in ? He is just as likely to have done a lot & everyone has said "no thanks. anywhere but Cardiff".

We have brought in a good championship squad of players with the exception of the strikers and a dead ball specialist. But, these are like rocking horse shit to find, especially with budget constraints.

We need to accept we do not have an "X factor" type player, maybe with the exception of young Rubin, so we are going to lose even though we played well to teams that have championship-level (or better) standard strikers.

I think the club recruitment team has done an excellent job and they would continue doing so if SM left.

SM can be blamed for poor tactics, poor team selection, or poor substitutions, but it's not his fault we do not have championship-level strikers.

We play 4 at the back and 5 in midfield, we smoother teams, Malky did that but we had a set-piece game courtesy of Whitts and championship-level strikers

We are only a lucky signing away from a decent team IMO

Managers/first team head coaches are disposable, we have a technically well-balanced squad so you don't have to get a certain type of coach if SM doesn't make the grade, but he is not the problem at the moment.

I am still hopeful that someone will come in this week, but as Morison has said until he does we must try to back the players we have. In Watters case that means as a minimum him showing more energy and closing down better. I can forgive limited ability/ missing chances if there is 100% effort.
But I would hope other frontline combinations are being tried in training e.g. With Colwell more upfront as a 10. Also remember Davies will be part of that equation (hopefully) and Etete will be developing (hopefully).

We have had enough examples of ageing journeymen picking up good wages but not being “hungry”. Therefore I am pleased that Morison said,
"What won't be happening is I won't be getting in a 32, 33, 34-year-old centre-forward just because it appeases everyone. It has to be the right player. Someone who will take us forward and help us progress.”
