Morison says he was happy with "excellent" Jack Simpson's debut for the Bluebirds at West Brom and revealed the centre-back chose Rangers over Cardiff when he left Bournemouth last summer.
That decision simply didn't work out for the defender, who spent a frustrating season on the sidelines watching on at Ibrox.
Fast-forward 12 months and he is now in south Wales and made his bow against the Baggies, performing well despite having limited game-time under his belt.
Morison liked what he saw, especially his commitment to the cause late on to preserve the draw.
STEVE MORISON:
"Yeah, excellent," said Morison of his display. "We ummed and arred but I think you can always get through that first game on adrenaline and just pure excitement and belief.
"He’ll be a bag of spanners in about two days' time! He’s a really good player and he showed that his defensive side today, [I] thought he was excellent. Put his body on the line and huge header right at the death there.
"Abilities that said he’s back for Sunday so he’s had that game in, think he’s had very limited game time over the last couple of years. We can get him right now going forward and we have some really good options."
His time with Rangers was very much a watching brief, and Morison concedes the move north just didn't work out for him.
"Bit harsh to say he’s wasted it but he’s missed it because he hasn’t been selected," he said.
"He hasn’t been injured, he hasn’t been not fit for section, he just hasn’t been selected and I remember him coming through at Bournemouth, I thought he was excellent.
"Think he actually made a choice for Rangers over us, which at the time was maybe a decision that he made because of obviously Rangers are a huge club playing in Europe and all that kind of stuff and it didn’t quite work.
"It doesn’t work some players you go clubs and it just doesn’t work out for you, it doesn’t fit. But we showed him how we wanted to play what we wanted to do and he’s come in and got a smile on his face every day and he’s really enjoying it and I think he’ll be really good player for us going forward."
