MY VIEW / OPINION: I HONESTLY THOUGHT WE WOULD WIN THIS GAM

Postby Forever Blue » Sat Aug 06, 2022 3:55 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

I HONESTLY THOUGHT WE WOULD WIN THIS GAME AGAINST AN INRURY HIT READING SIDE & A POOR SIDE IN MY VIEW AGAINST MORISONS TEAM REALLY WANTING IT, BUT SADLY FADED WHEN LOSING.

MORISON WENT IN TO THIS GAME WITH A VERY STRING SQUAD, WHILST PAUL INCE MOANED ABOUT HIS INJURY HIT SQUAD.

Nelson came in for Ng. Philogene and Etete came on to the bench. Ollie Tanner dropped out of the squad.

Sawyer did not much today, Watters / Harris ??? Collins not like last week??

Reading had seven players missing for the clash. Lucas Joao, Sam Hutchinson, Scott Dann, Femi Azeez, Dejan Tetek, George Puscas and Liam Moore.

I was on such a high last Saturday, today we have been brought back down to earth

FIRST-HALF: Great start by Cardiff, early goal :bluebird: but a blatant penalty by Nelson put a poor Reading side back in to the game. Cardiff took the foot of the peddle and 1-1 was fair.

SECOND-HALF: Cardiff went behind to a brilliant Ince goal, Reading started to look the better side, Morison in the 73rd min did 3 subs. By the 75th min Morison had used his 5 subs. We did not have a plan B?

READING 2 CARDIFF CITY 1
H-T 1-1
Crowd
Away Support: 2,000 Bluebirds

Cardiff City: Allsop; Romeo, Nelson, Kipre, Collins; Wintle, Sawyers, Rinomhota; Ojo, Watters, O'Dowda.

Subs: Alnwick, Denham, Sang, Ralls, Philogene, Harris.

GOAL! Reading 0-1 Cardiff City (O'Dowda 4)
Wintle hits a deep cross from the free-kick and O'Dowda rises highest and sends a clever header low and back across goal and it nestles into the bottom corner. :bluebird: :bluebird:

PENALTY READING!

Nelson pulls down Ince, who was clean through. Calls for a red, but it's just a yellow.
Blatant penalty, lucky not sent off.
GOAL! Reading 1-1 Cardiff City (Long 27)
Long scores.

Allsop banks on him going down the middle and Long drags it to the keeper's right.

H-T 1-1

Ralls replaces Rinomhota.

52mins:Watters off, Harris on.

Look at the space Ince had.
GOAL! Reading 2-1 Cardiff City (Ince 63)
Goal. Ince with a stunner.what a shot

Yellow card for Jamilu Collins.

73 mins:Ojo off, Etete on.

Sawyers off, Sang on.

Romeo off, Philogene on.

Reading were poor and I honestly thought we would win this.

Only managed to catch the 2nd half, but sounds like Nelson had a shocker, and missed NG bringing the ball out from the back!

Dreadful performance. Ince and Rae did their homework and their tactics were brilliant.

Game was lost as soon as he brought Harris on. Offers absolutely nothing. Should have brought Etete on for Ojo/O’Dowda instead and let Watters play off him.

I hope SM learns from his mistakes. Nelson drops below McGuiness and Denham once again for me after that. Had his chance and blew it.

NG then Denham every time for me

Sorry to say Watters and Harris just don’t cut it for me
Plenty of effort but no end product ie goals from them

Reading deserved their win in the end as we faded poorly in the second half. I am not too disappointed as there were still lots oi good things about today's performance especially in the first half. We look soft at the back is my biggest concern and was at the start of the season. Every time the ball went in to the box we looked vulnerable. Nelson was awful. I still think better days are still to come but we have to patient and not expect anything other than mid table- at best. Etete looked good and won his headers well. The Watters experiment has to stop, rightfully hooked after 6 minutes of the second half. Chins up, the Jacks got thumped at home today.

Not good enough imo...

Harris
Watters
Romeo
Rinomhota... Not sure what everyone raves about

Watters needs to be tried with Etete

Out managed today.

Performance just highlights we are a team in transition and sadly this season is ALL about getting to 50 points as soon as possible. I think we will get better as the season goes on but any talk of playoffs is in my opinion way off the mark.

We will have better days though so it's not all doom and gloom.

Yep

People chucking 50 off the wrist praising the new players when we beat Norwich yet I knew deep down it would only take one game and no doubt the dogshit calls will come out on here so I'll be having a laugh tonight at the posts that will surely go up with crying in. Like i said before the season started with the changes ill take staying up right now anything else is a bonus imo :bluescarf:

This may sound over the top,but Nelson should be got rid of ASAP. To give a penalty away like that is unforgivable. Rolls and Wintle just got in each others way. Watters and Harris just not good enough.. Lots of work still to be done.

Nelson should have his wages docked for pulling the player in the box gave them the game.
And allsop keeper kept going long upfield totally different tactics and watters in a world of his own.

Early days yet for a team that needs to gel Little concerned we have only had 5 shots on target in two games . Nelson is an accident waiting to happen and does not suit the style of play we are looking to play .
All about staying in the division for me and improving on last season

I think after beating Norwich we should have pushed on. Top Managers have intensity and give that to the players on a consistent basis. We lacked that today after Reading scored. One win and one loss. Midfield were not picking up the ball and we resorted to long balls to Harris.

after only two games it is difficult to get an idea. In general, the team looks much stronger than last year, although today it seems to have taken two steps backwards compared to last week. Today the kids looked fatigued. Sometimes it happens that you immediately take the lead, relax, and never resume the game. It is still early to get an idea of what this season will represent for us. Personally I have hopes: I see strength, desire, courage, a coherent form. Unfortunately, like others, I also notice a certain difficulty in countering the opposing shooter on the edge of our area ... I saw it today (their second goal) and I also noticed it last week. We need a filter on the lower midfield. But I see a lot of positive aspects in this team ... I have hopes. What did the Jacks do?
Sometimes it will seem that I write badly... but the reality is that I'm using Google translate, otherwise I would definitely write much worse!!

Complete lack of intensity from the whole team today

Sloppy passing, sloppy defending, players not picking their men up..ince had so much time to pick his spot for the goal that’s just unforgivable

All this after a great start and a positive first 20 minutes

Need to sort this out or it’s going to be a long season

With you on this, Annis; the first goal brought Reading back into the game and the second allowed them to effect our own play in a game I had high hopes of winning

Lots of positives though a mnd we move on

Great to see Mallo at the game and a quich chat was had :ayatollah:

One of main problems is final ball in area? Last week went 30ft in air today just poor delivery giving no one an opportunity to score.... watters is struggling to get into games because of this today only ohjo and o'Dowd did anything of note .... but early days be more ups and downs until players get use to playing together at this level... at least can be optimistic going forward.

Thought we would have won the way we started. At least Morisson can get a good assessment now right at beginning of season and see which direction to go in. He will learn a lot about this team in first ten games as well as the fans. :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Good learning curve for the team. Reading made the game ugly and we played into their hands. Every time we played football we looked dangerous. But it's all about moving the ball quicker in the final third, we will get it. It's all about time. Give it a couple of weeks.
