90s Rave Scene in Cardiff !!!!!

Anyone else remember when the rave scene first kicked off in the early nineties, there were a few good clubs around in Cardiff like the Venue and Subways. But by far the most mental club I ever visited was Quadrant park in Liverpool, check this out for atmosphere..... Incredible

I know the Hippo was a gem, a real diamond in the rough. Didn't it get demolished?

Loved it when I lived in Cardiff I could go there pretty much every night! lol. It was like the cantina bar in Star Wars! Some right characters.

the guy on the bongo's was a right header, was it meady who owned it? can't remember?

Was cracking in there, always cracking atmosphere and hardly ever any trouble, that might have been down to the pills in there LOVE PEACE AND UNITY

dunno, pete loughlin owned it when I frequented the place. I liked the hippos head at the top of the stairs. Man that place kicked ass.

Ollie and Shane - the residents? They had that night on Mondays when there used to be some hot students there.

The Venue - Saw The Shamen, Spacemen 3, Senseless Things, Telescopes, Inspirals, Birdland and many others, a great little place, think it's Club X nowadays.
The Square Club - My favourite ever place in the city as it was my first, upstairs going mental to Big Black and falling in to walls. Alien Sex Fiend were always in there.
The Hippo - Saw the Super Furries play there once, t'was a good night. Can't remember anybody I ever met there but would always remember their faces the following weekend. Happy dayz. I seem to remember the old bill would come in quite often.

You go in the emporium? saturdays were the nights in there, couple yrs later its was v2k on queen street on fridays then bionic with cally and juice etc on saturdays in the emporium, think the bionic nights were monthy?

The old bill raided the place in 97. Big ol' raid that was too. I wasn't there but heard tales of people escaping out of the fire escape and over the roofs!

went to the emporium when back to basics used to come down from leeds. I remember my mate prince fell asleep on the bass bin in there on night vibrating and shaking like a right menace!

bionic was good, used to go out with brian quite a bit. they had some good nights int here actually.

what was the bar that was on the right on st marys street but upstairs? that was our preclub venue. happy days

One club that never really got going was Escape - Always a mad night in Swansea along with Marthas but just never happened it cardiff although can remember the Paul Oakenfold night just between Christmas and new year - Top

I used to do Slough Centre, SW1 Club, Cafe de Paris, Lyceum and a load of outdoor raves around the south east.
