MY VIEW: “I HAVE TO SAY CARDIFF CITY”

MY VIEW / OPINION: I HAVE TO SAY TODAY CARDIFF CITY I NOT ONLY ENJOYED THE WIN / BUT THE FOOTBALL WAS SO ENJOYABLE.

I am not going to get carried away by today first match , but boy I enjoyed that.

Let’s have more, players gave everything, Ref gave gave virtually nothing.

I never say this but Ref so biased for Norwich.

FIRST-HALF:

Not many chances at all by Cardiff , but passed well and an even game so far.

Cardiff City holding their own against a good Norwich team. Ojo gave the ball away to many times.

Second-Half: Sawyer scored a brilliant goal 1 nil, Norwich then hit crossbar

NG sent off for 2nd yellow card 74th min. Cardiff deserved their win, Collins man of the match

Alsop for City great game.

Our first win in opening game for 4 years so this Young Cardiff fan next to me in Cantina Santa Ponsa says.

CARDIFF CITY 1 NORWICH CITY 0
H-T 0-0
Crowd 19,969
Away Support: 1,850

Cardiff City: Allsop; Romeo, Ng, Kipre, Collins; Wintle, Sawyers, Rinomhota; Ojo, Watters, O'Dowda.

Subs: Alnwick, Nelson, Ralls, Sang, Whyte, Tanner, Harris.

GOAL! Cardiff City 1-0 Norwich City (Sawyers 49)

Sawyers smacks it from 25 yards and it wobbles and dips into the bottom corner. Lovely strike. Fantastic build-up play from O'Dowda, who danced past his marker to create the chance

58th min:

Mark Harris and Joe Ralls on.

Romaine Sawyers and Max Watters off.

75th min:
Ojo off, Curtis Nelson on.

81st min: 81

Sang and Whyte on. Rinomhota and O'Dowda off.

85 RED CARD! Hanley goes for a challenge on Harris

Well deserved win with excellent support from the home crowd.

The referee seemed to have a bad game with some strange decisions going against us. However, we managed it very well and saw the game through without much threat.

I'm not getting carried away, I never do but I'm certainly going into the next game a lot more confident than this one.

What a signing Collins looks at left back. One side of team that definately had to be sorted. :bluebird: :bluescarf:

Well that has made my week. What a brilliant watch that was, haven’t felt like that watching us since the last promotion season. All the players wanted it and they had a bit of bite about them too, and to go with it we played some decent football. We didn’t create much at all but you always felt we’d get a goal from somewhere. Jamilu Collins what a debut, he was absolutely superb and definitely the stand out performer. But everyone else done well in their own right too.

Very good opening day win. Co congratulations to the players today. Dug deep.

Now if youll read the 'pinkun', Norwich forum, youll see we offered nothing, were a poor outfit, very ordinary, didnt deserve the win etc etc... oh and only won because we were a dirty, fouling team... and the ref lost it for thwm, by giving everything to us!

Great display, especially with all the new signings. Max Watters was really poor, Harris looked a far better option when he came on.. A new Striker is a must.

Heavy metal football, i loved that.........

Passing, but not for passing sake, then BITE with a capital Beee.....

Need two strikers, I really wanted Watters to make the jump but he is a lower league terror, the defenders are a step ahead of him all the time

To be fair, Watters was left a little isolated but ran his backside off and the team will gel further as time goes on... :ayatollah:

Agreed and every cross seemed to be way over his head where he had no chance of reaching it. I still think he needs to be given a run to gel with the new players.

Absolutely buzzing after that win tbh. Few good signings there I'd say but I'm not going to start sucking any cocks yet like some one game in. Onwards and upwards hopefully. Need a striker to hold the ball up badly. Watters runs alot but I see him as a div 2 player tbh :bluescarf:

I think the one question already answered is yes we will be competitive at this level.

Night and day difference in football and footballers, had a bit of everything. Lots of good things and lots to work on, but a great base start i think to build on!

Disapointed with the crowd, honestly thought we get at least 21,500. To see under 20k was sad, hopefully word spreads we have changed, more ppl will come

Very, very positive only goes to show money is no guarantee of success. Players playing for one another and self respect. Play for the badge that is all we ask. Well done City

I thought Norwich were appallingly dirty today. They thoroughly hated being beaten by a team I’m sure they thought were cannon fodder

Im still looking at the fall out on their forum, their 'entitlement' is just at full throttle, and they are now starting the 'Their a Welsh club so should be thrown out of the league' .

As a place I really like Norwich. Been a number of Times, both football and work, but my oh my, their fans actually believe we are a parks side.....

One of the players with no championship experience and seen by some as a risk was MoM today

Collins played very well, but you cant deny that up to this point he was an unknown and a risk.

One game doesnt make the man, but its a very encouraging starting debut.

No, but it's a bloody good start against a bloody good side and on today's evidence, the 'risk' looks a savvy one...

Surely, not every post you put out HAS to have an element of cautioys negativity? :?

Have to agree, at one point in the first half we went down the left put a lovely near post cross in tans Watters didn’t even move !! Worse still, he then had a go at Collins for not crossing it onto his foot!!!!!

People keep saying Watters will score given the chances, trouble is he makes so few runs in the box he’s never going to get those chances !!

I no great fan of Harris ( not good enough at this level in my opinion) but he did more in the short time he was in than Watters did.

Put one or two decent strikers into this squad and I think we’ll pull off a few surprises this season !!

Such cautious 'negativity' ( I would have said a cautious optimism) is for my benefit also.

Tonight I am very pleased, but it wont just be me or supporters that say this, but managers trot it out on a regular basis, that one win doesnt make a summer.

Ill enjoy this one though....

Of course he was a risk. Nobody had ever heard of him or seen him play. He was also from a lower league. So being sceptical about him was justified because nobody knew of him and it could have gone either way. Nobody wrote him off from what I saw, we all hoped he’d turn out to be good. Looking like he is going to be a very good player for us. Impressive scouting from the club.

Me and my mates were discussing this yesterday. The scouting system has worked miracles over the last 2/3 windows.

Of course, it helps for a manager to have a system and get players in to fit that system as Morison has but none the less, from what I have seen yesterday there is some serious potential in this new squad, let’s hope there is a level of consistency to go with it.
