Captain, how do you feel?

Incredibly proud to get this honour and look forward to leading the boys out there.

I’ve been captain before for games and things, so matchdays it doesn’t change an awful lot. You’ll be around for the boys for whatever they need. Speak to the lads about how they are feeling. Incredibly honoured and proud.

Been here over 10 years, have you known a summer like this?

No! Going back a long time to find that many incomings and outgoings. It’s an exciting time for the football club.

It’s a lot of change. New manager, fresh ideas. We’ve brought a lot in and I’ve got nothing but positive things to say.

It’s been a really good pre-season and we are really excited.

Big change of style…

Yeah, we are looking to build a little bit more and be a bit more functional from back to front. That’s the main thing.

Umming and ahhing about you staying, how close to leaving?

I think it was never in doubt. At the end of the season, it wasn’t the best of seasons, everyone wanted to get away and re-energise. Once we started speaking again it was done quickly. I’ve loved this journey so far at this club.

Not Welsh, but got blue blood!

I never could imagine being here as long as I have. People have welcomed me so much. Wearing the armband and captaining the boys throughout the season, hopefully I can bring success to the club.

Aim?

Get as high up to the top-6 positions as we can. That’s always the aim at Cardiff, it has to be. Up in Scotland, we did an exercise and all the boys want to get promoted.

So many captains give those little talks, what’s your talk going to be?

It’s not something I’ve given an awful lot of thought to!

Advice to youngsters?

Express yourself. They were a shining light in a difficult season. They have done to be fair.

Thoughts on the current squad?

Big change. We have got a young squad but a very hungry squad. They are coming here and want to do well. The training has been really good. We are all just really excited to be that team. We have got a team spirit which has been built throughout this pre-season.

He said he’s back and ready for the first game, I do hope he doesn’t start though just because he’s captain. the midfield 3 of wintle, rinamhota and sawyers is too strong and shouldn’t be changed till 70th minute where rallsy should come on
