13 and counting…striker on the way?
Transfers, any other positions left other than striker?
Steve Morison:
"No. We have already got good strikers. We have good players and we want players to come in and compete with them."
"That’ll be the same with whoever we bring in."
Steve Morison
Steve Morison:
“No one wanted the no.9!”
“I think it would be good to add to the group. It would help with the competition. We have three vying for that jersey. It’s really healthy.”
“Max and Mark are fit at the minute, the way we want to play, they are going to be a handful. I want to give them the opportunity to do that.”
Steve Morison

Your having a giraffe Morison, you know you need two and Harris and Watters are not them, you mate don’t even rate Watters yourself.
Thu Jul 28, 2022 3:28 pm
Morison just be honest, no budget for a striker, you would love to have one at least, but no backing for one
Watters one goal in eleven appearances for the Bluebirds and as said before you dropped him

I think we need at least one striker but I also think Watters needs to be given a fair chance to prove himself which he hasn't really had so far whereas Harris has had more than enough chances.
As a manager he shouldn't be telling everyone we need strikers anyway, all that is going to do is make others put the price up as they think we're desperate and that is a no no when buying anything.

Absolutely unbelievable.
Knew this was ccoming Watters and, especially Harris, a HANDFUL??? Ws SM not a striker himself?
The regime once again allowing a club that they preside over to go into a season without a Championship or even league one level striker.
If this doesnt hit home what this Non footballing regime think of the club then nothing will.

I’d rather wait for the striker I really wanted than settle for others. There’s still a while left til the window ends though I do agree re the 2 we have, particularly Harris!!!

Watters will have 2 good players either side of him and good midfielders behind him that can actually pass forward. I'm hoiping the lad will rise to the occasion as he has good technical ability. Hasn't had the support before now as last season with no wide men even Kieffer struggled.
Thu Jul 28, 2022 3:50 pm
Without a number 9 to hold the ball up and win set pieces we will be back in another relegation scrap but just playing pritier football. In fact, I think we could be even worse off because I fear we could become quite a soft touch without any height or punch up front or elsewhere in the team. It will be all prity football with no end product and then we get picked off. There are grounds for optmisin and I sincerely hope to be proved wrong but if we dont score goals in our first few games expect the chorous for a new striker to grow louder.

While I agree in theory with your sentiment, one cannot deny that SM's comments might intimate the regime simply saying 'No'to strikers.
This is very very disappointing again from the Regime.

Surely, there must be a Striker with a good strike rate available somewhere in Europe for a cheap deal to play in English League ?
I know we have been mostly unlucky with players from abroad but we have also had some good un's.
Places like Turkey, North Macedonia, Eastern Europe or how about Ukraine ?
Ive watched small town sides in Germany and the quality is pretty good all over.
Hidden Gem ? (don't mention Acorn, or "one for the future" I know, I know !)

I know what you mean. Hopefully just go with the 2 we have for first game.

Agreed mate, it's better to wait for quality rather than panic buy a lower quality Striker.
Great statement from Morison he's learning diplomacy, he can't exactly say what is true as he needs to build up the Strikers for the short term and see what they can do! Watters is looking pretty good and his confidence is growing, he may still continue to fight for the shirt when the two new Strikers come in when the Premier teams have fine tuned their squads.
Reading between the lines that really means is, we'll give these two a go, they're probably not up to it but we need them for another three or four weeks, hopefully they'll take their chance, if not don't panic, we'll get two quality Strikers before the end of August, hopefully sooner, don't underestimate me i'm a Striker myself and I know what we need you muppets!

Why would they say no to the most important position on field? Knowing full well need someone besides watters and Morison knows it..... maybe it's me but the response given sounds as if it's been lost in interpretation after all saying nobody wanted no9 shirt is silly when got watters in team.....But as we know players come in unannounced so wont be surprised to see a striker come in... if none come in it is simply down to morison as he knew what was needed you cannot blame tea lady as hes brought in 13 players ffs a striker was his no 1 priority not 6 midfielders.!!
Thu Jul 28, 2022 4:15 pm
Be an outrage if we don’t get at least 1 striker in.
I really hope that Watters takes his chance, I gave him stick in that game and rightly so, but really want him to do well.
With this team and the service I believe we may see the best of him

That’s pretty much what I’m thinking (hoping) mate

I think you all need to relax about the striker situation.
Don’t get me wrong, yes it helps a lot. However, we’ve been promoted in the past on more than one occasion with our strikers not hitting double figures!
Buying a striker who can score the goals at this level helps, yes.
But, if the goals are coming from all over the team (like what happened during our promotion seasons) then it shouldn’t be a problem.
From a personal point of view, there’s enough quality in this team to get goals from all over. But that’s just my opinion.

Agreed to a point and opinion respected, but imo, we need more and soon.
All our signings have been a mixture of experience, certain quality, unknowns and prospects. Not one jumps out as marquee signing.
You want to get a few '000 more bums on seats and thats what such a sig ing does. Usually strikers. The way I look at it, its clearly an apportunity missed.
As has been said, its all in the interpretation. Ill see it my way, others the way they will.

Well Gents, Morison is more than happy , his Chairman & owner are happy, most fans seem happy especially on here , Twitter, funny majority on FB not, but we will All see what happens in the next games to come and by 10-12 games we will know which direction we are going.
I personally feel at least one quality striker should of been signed, we’ve all known for 7 months we needed one. Morison says he is happy with Watters & Harrison.
What ever our opinions, WE FANS ALL WANT ONE THING, OUR BELOVED BLUEBIRDS TO DO WELL, STARTING ON SATURDAY & WE ARE ALL UNITED IN THIS / BLUEBIRDS.

Couldn’t agree with this more. Well said mate.

Surly he knows he needs another striker. If we don’t bring another striker in then clearly he has not been backed. If he was given say 1m to spend or even 500k (not including the signing on fees that’s become a popular response here) then I’m sure we would have brought one in by now. Is there any decent freebies out there that’s willing to play for under 10k a week? I doubt it. The only hope is the loan market, but there’s no guarantee a striker will become available on loan that’s better than what we have now.

We'll sign a striker
Definitely one Prem loan maybe another elsewhere

How sure are you, cos to me, it looks unlikely, especially with what SM has said
Thu Jul 28, 2022 6:48 pm
I hope we get a high profile striker then Watters keeps him out by linking up well with the quality around him.Can see Max getting more assists than goals but they all count.
Thu Jul 28, 2022 6:48 pm
There's still a month to go.....
Thu Jul 28, 2022 6:49 pm
Im still pretty confident we will sign a striker before the window closes. We will see more prem players getting loaned out now squads are almost decided.
I think watters might surprise a few people with better players around him. I'm pretty sure Ojo did quite well for us last time when he pushed more central as well.
