STEVE MORISON:

Transfers, any other positions left other than striker?

"No. We have already got good strikers. We have good players and we want players to come in and compete with them."

"That’ll be the same with whoever we bring in."

Steve Morison

What's success for you this season?

Sitting here in July 2023, having this conversation about the next season because we have evolved again.

I’m not going to start saying about going to the Premier League or having a relegation scrap. Sitting here next year will mean a very successful year.

Steve Morison

Anticipate Norwich being up there?

They are always up there! They go up and they go down. They do that because they are a top, top Champ team. They don’t spend loads of money, they stay sustainable. I’d expect them to be a top, top team this year.

But it doesn’t take away from what we are trying to do. We are confident against anyone.

Steve Morison

How you feeling?

Excited! Just can’t wait to get going now. You come in for pre-season and you work towards the first game of the season. You just hope you get through it in a really good state.

It’s kind of like a stress-free time in pre-season, enjoy it but get the work in and all of a sudden it becomes real.

The next test is on Saturday and it all starts again.

STEVE MORISON:

13 newcomers, how much of a job has that been to mould into a unit?

It’s been more having a mould and then bringing people into that mould. You're miles off it if you think we’ve just got a load of players and stuck them together.

It’s to fit what we want to do. It’s that way around.

Hopefully it works! They are all position-specific players and they all wanted to come and be a part of it. I’m really looking forward to it.

STEVE MORISON:

Much of a gamble from players from lower level?

I was having a conversation yesterday. People have not paid as much attention as they should in the players we’ve signed. We’ve signed over 900 appearances in the Championship this summer. Only five of them, Jak Alnwick, Ollie Tanner, Jamilu Collins, Ebou Adams, Vontae have never played in the Championship. Eight of them have and they’ve played a lot of games.

I see it as we’ve signed a lot of players who had options with other clubs. We’ve sold them a project they want to be a part of. That’s the reality of it.

Ollie Tanner is a project, he has time to grow, Vontae is a project, Jak has come in and added to the group. I think there’s a lot more to the players we’ve signed, they aren’t just unknowns.

Allsop No.1?

At the minute he is, unless he doesn’t play very well.

Adams?

He, amazingly, managed to rip his pec off the bone! That’s normally a car-crash rugby type of injury. He has had surgery on his shoulder, he will be a couple of months.

Isaak Davies?

He is on the grass, he is at the point where he owes us a pre-season.

Rubin Colwill?

He just did his hamstring the last moment of the Scotland trip, the same as Isaak, he owes us a pre-season. We can’t fast track them because they are too important for the season.

STEVE MORISON:

Ralls captain, easy choice?

Yeah. He has been at the club a hell of a long time. The captain has a lot of roles and responsibilities. He has to make sure the players are comfortable. There’s no one better placed for that.

Vincent Tan given any targets?

STEVE MORISON:

No. The target is the same with the board and the owners. Just win. We will try and win on Saturday!

13 and counting…striker on the way?

Steve Morison:

No one wanted the no.9!

I think it would be good to add to the group. It would help with the competition. We have three vying for that jersey. It’s really healthy.

Max and Mark are fit at the minute, the way we want to play, they are going to be a handful. I want to give them the opportunity to do that.

First full season as manager, daunted?

You have been manager now nearly 10months at the club 2 years:

Steve Morison:

"No. It’s exciting! I’ve lived my life playing this game. It’s a lot different, don’t get me wrong. I can only do so much. When you play you can have a visual impact on everyone.

If we succeed, the sky is the limit. If we don’t then it didn’t happen the way we wanted it to be.

The amount we have changed on and off the pitch. The turnouts in the local pre-season games were phenomenal.

I think, looking at what we have achieved on and off the pitch has been incredible. The access people have to us is top-drawer."

Relishing this as an opportunity?

Yeah, I have to! If I didn’t it’s no point me being here.

It’s what you put all the hours on the training pitch for. I can’t wait now. It’s about seeing it all come together now. Exciting times, I hope.

What’s impressed you most about the group?

Steve Morison:

Their attitude and application to everything. It’s a joy to watch them all work.

What a great bunch of people. They make our job so much easier and make us enjoy coming to work.

Any extra pressure?

It does take the excuses away. I can be a lot more open and honest with the group. I can be judged a lot more fairly I hope.

Mate, everyone can see it, he can’t speak out or he be sacked, keeping the boss happy, yet his head in block anyway if he don’t deliver. No money available and has accepted it.

Should he say ‘The strikers we have are not up to it. We’re giving them a go for a few weeks til we get proper strikers in.’ Watters and Harris would be dying for the cause after those types of comments. It is BS but I understand why he’s saying it. :bluescarf:
