Probably right with the amount of keepers we had

Cardiff City goalkeeper Dillon Phillips has joined Belgian outfit KV Oostende on a season-long loan deal, Oostende paying Phillips wages for this coming season.

The Bluebirds recruited Jak Alnwick and Ryan Allsop this summer, meaning there were three senior goalkeepers as well as Rohan Luthra all vying for a spot in Steve Morison's matchday squad come the start of the campaign.

All the best Dillon a decent goalkeeper but was unlikely to get much if any game time this season because lets face it he was pants at kicking the ball. Won't be the last to leave either if you ask me Whyte, Sang and King (to get game time). May include Mcguiness as well as despite coming through the Arsenal youth set up cannot be relied upon to pass the ball out from the back.

What I don't understand with this is why he was playing in friendlies for us. Why couldn't Luthra get some experience with the first team in the games Phillips played?

Phillips is a very solid keeper, but Morison clearly wanted keepers more comfortable with the ball at their feet and more accurate kicking.

I watched Allsop ping a long flat pass against Swindon, which created a good chance for us, it's exciting to see.

No surprise, as it was know he wasn't in Steve Morison's plans from January onwards but he never let us down and I wish him well... :ayatollah:

Was always going to happen when the new pecking order was established. Solid and dependable GK for us though and I wish him well. Luthra now appears to be 3rd choice so I wonder where this leaves George Ratcliffe who is in rehab for an injury, he needs to be playing men's first team football now as he's not going to develop in the U21 squad.

i thought the same thing, but it might of been a case of, no one coming in for him so they needed to make sure all 3 were fit and in contention for when the season started
