What’s everyone’s predictions for Saturday v Norwich?

Wed Jul 27, 2022 9:51 am

New Season, new team but will it be same old same old?

Steve Morison has totally rebuilt his inherited team with basically no money to suit his style of play and in his own words ‘is very happy and excited’.

As fans we all wanted more prolific signings especially up top but at this moment it’s not to be.My feelings is we have a good solid squad with competition in most areas who will be hungry to prove a point.

Anyway couple of questions……..

Leader on the pitch? - Wintle

Standout player? - NG

Where do we Finish? - 8

Unknown but let's see our squad in 3 weeks

With strikers we could be contenders

Tougher year this year as always a lot of good teams and a lot of top Championship Managers with the top eight fancied clubs!

I still agree though, 2 decent Strikers top six :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Think we will shock a few and do very well.

Yes, we need a proven goalscorer up front with Watters.

I think top 6 and hopefully promoted.

We will be in a better position to judge after 8-10 Games and perhaps we could revisit this question then ?

It would be interesting to see how Fan's opinions could change ! Mine included

But, Lets all be positive about the season. :bluescarf: :bluebird:

Agree about the 8- 10 games but it would be easier and most people would have similar answers.

Leader: Wintle

Standout player: sawyers (I really reckon if watters is given a chance for a few games before new striker arrives he could be a standout player for us)

Position: 7th (just missing out in final day)

Re: What’s everyone’s predictions.

Pitch leader: Ryan Wintle

Standout player: Jayden Philogene-Bidace

Position: 6th (a repeat of 2003)

I tend to agree with you .

We still have room for 3 loan signings. Hopefully before the transfer window closes we will have 2 strikers and a centre back. Think we should now play with 4 at the back ,Perry Ng at right back as he's not a centre back in a 4 man defence.

I’m with you.
Higher if we get TWO quality strikers in or one if Watters hits the ground running.

Agree with the strikers comment - really hope Watters does well on saturday and gets a goal. Would be a real confidence boost for the lad

Come the Bluebirds

I'm expecting more fluid, entertaining football. We will compete very well against most teams, but I fear we will lose games we don't deserve to lose because of our lack of quality in the centre back and striker department.

I think we will be in a lot of games and perhaps be the better team in lots of games with our strong looking midfield, but we will lose games from conceding a silly goal or squandering chances.

I will be happy with a comfortable mid table finish with a more entertaining, pleasing playing style, with a large chunk or our squad learning and improving as the season goes on. We will then be better placed to challenge for the playoffs the following season.

I think this season is far too soon to expect a playoff challenge. I agree we might surprise teams, but we could take a few hidings as well. We're hoping NG can slot in and do a job at centre back, because McGuinness and Nelson aren't good enough, especially with playing out from the back under our new style of play. Hopefully, Denham can break through, but we really need to bring one more good centre back in, otherwise we will be conceding a lot of goals.

Wintle to become top midfielder.
Lad from Villa will thrill..
Sawyers to become a hero..
Alsop to become a solid investment.
Lad from WBA provide calmness and composure in defence .
Win one nil .
Off to the pub happy..

Remember first game of the season giving newly relegated Aston villa a good tonking,so who knows wouldn't be disappointed with a draw mind . :bluescarf:

Very sensible post and one that echoes my views.

People who are expecting promotion/play-offs are living a dream in my opinion.

A complete re-set in players and tactics while spending virtually nothing and a mid to top half finish would be an excellent season.

We have started this squad of against lower league clubs and I can see the logic in that. Morison wants to play a certain style and its been put to the test the pre season. Now we need to step up as we go into the new season Next 10 games are going to be telling.

My heart tell me we are going to be pleasantly surprised. My head says its going to be hard going nut it just might be rewarding. lets pray so.

I think we will start well then fold up personally but hope I'm wrong. I expect Norwich to be right up there come end of the season anyway due to there sqaud and quality for the champ. So if we get a draw I'd be buzzing :ayatollah:
