KV Kortrijk fans in Belgium hang banners calling for Tan to go
Tuesday 26th July 2022

Fans of Vincent Tan-owned Belgian side KV Kortrijk have hung banners at their stadium calling for the owner to leave the club and the momentum is gathering as demonstrations are planned.

The Bluebirds owner is also in charge of the Belgian First Division A side, who are seemingly in a period of unrest. They finished 13th out of 18 teams last season and began the current campaign, which started last weekend, with a 2-0 defeat by OH Leuven.

During the match at the weekend, there were reportedly calls for manager Karim Belhocine to be relieved of his duties. That, it seems, has now spilled over to calls for the ownership to go.

On Monday night there were messages aimed at the club's top brass which voiced fans' discontent, with one banner even taking aim at general manager Matthias Leterme and chief operating officer Jelle Brulez. The banner simply read: "Leterme, Brulez, Tan, out!" Another had the message: "Tan out!"

Very interesting indeed.

And yet some on here worship the ground on which him and his clowns walk.

We nearly did last season.

Tan has got us in this mess after 12 years of running our club he and his committee are totally responsible for what happens in and off the pitch.

Yes that's why we've had the best decade arguably in our history, well done tan and the committee. Seeing my team in its 1st league Cup final and 2 sesson in the top division the facts don't lie ,excellent ownership .

Promoted to the Premier league twice! What other owner has done that?

Yes he's made mistakes but I don't remember the club being on the brink of extinction under Tan? I remember it being less than a day away under Sam.

He's our owner and we are now finally living within our means.

Tan and his cronies gave up on us a number of years back.

Zero funds to build, not a penny in transfers, meddling, forcing the manager to play kids clearly not good enough.

Anyway, its all been said, sides have been taken, and I'm staying firmly of the view that Tan has been solely responsible for our quite dramatic fall from grace over the last few years.

All other opinions respected.

Fall from grace  we are in the championship ffs ,looks like we will be getting crowds of 20k this season in a stadium fully owed by the club hardly a fall from grace is it ? ,the fact is that tans money took us to 2 Premier league campaigns and 1 league Cup final

Don’t be silly. That’s not how it works round these parts.

I’d bet my house if we finish this season well it’s all down to Morison and if we struggle it’s all Tan’s fault. Same as how it was Warnock who got us promoted and Tan who got us relegated.

Tan came in when we were primed for the Premier. Malky got us there but I recall Tan saying it was his money that really got us there.

So if Tan wants to play that game then he should take the blame for us now fighting to stay out of League One. He can't have it both ways.

The stadium was built, We were in a play-off Final v Blackpool and City fav to win.
£4mill gave Tan 51% of the club.

Tans first ever football match, he was gambling on £4mill to give him £90mins if se won, then he was chasing his money, then he got hooked until he got bored.

Re: ‘ VINCENT TAN OUT SAYS ‘

Malky rebuilt our squad on a budget to get us to the playoffs and League Cup final in his first season, then Tan backed him in Malky's second season to take us up. Tan then let his ego ruin our first Premiership season. We were never in the relegation zone under Malky, but Tan let his personal dislike to Malky interfere and ruin our Premiership season.

I'm still waiting for this concrete evidence to come out justifying why Tan sacked Malky, but after all these years, things have gone quiet and it doesn't appear Tan has any evidence. Kim Bo-Kjung signing for Malky a second time at Wigan put a huge dent in Tan's claim that Malky was a racist and we haven't heard anything since.

It was speculated Malky started stopping Tan from coming into the dressing room before games, so he could prepare the team properly without interference. Maybe Tan couldn't handle Malky standing up to him and wanted a yes man instead? The real reason for the breakdown in relationship between Tan and Malky remains a mystery. Others say Malky was milking our club dry, but again, there's no evidence of this.

However, there seems to be evidence suggesting the other manager who took us to the Premiership was milking our club. Ridiculously long, big money contracts for players connected with his sons agency, but nobody dares to say anything about that. Maybe that's because that season we reached the Premiership the second time was an absolute miracle and probably no other manager could have done that. Maybe Tan knows that himself and he's decided to let things slide after embarrassing himself with Malky?

Yes, we have had some good moments under Tan and things could be far worse under a different owner, but I think Tan has been extremely lucky with those two Premiership seasons. If Tan didn't interfere, I strongly believe we would have stayed up in our first Premiership season. The majority of home games under Malky that season were against the top Premiership teams. The only teams we had left to play at home who finished in the top half of the Premiership that season after Malky's sacking, were Liverpool and Chelsea. Malky only had 2 home games against the teams towards the bottom and they were both wins against West Brom and Swansea.

If Tan didn't interfere and allowed Malky to continue, we may have stayed up and stabilised ourselves as a Premiership team for years. Unfortunately, Tan ruined any chance of that and we got relegated, giving us a future of cost cutting, struggles and poor quality football ever since.

Best post I have read for a long time.

I recall a number of us calling Malky a racist only for them to be quietened by Kimbo resigning for Malky. I also recall someone not far from here claiming that Tan was interfering in team selection. "What a load of b**locks" came the replies. Eventually the truth came out a few seasons later from a Ben Turner podcast. The signs were there when Turner played the game of his life against Villa only to be dropped for the next game.

Something tells me once Tan has gone a lot more truth will come out.
