A forum for all things Cardiff City

To me it doesn't look like we will get a striker in now and if we do they won't play Saturday. I feel we will struggle for goals this season can't rely on midfielders to score all the time and our current crop haven't scored many goals at previous clubs. Ok watters has been in fine form albeit against lower league teams. Not saying that sm is not trying but we should have a striker in months ago he's let Collins go and I was thinking we had a replacement already in the bag but not the case. I feel we are stronger in all other departments but not up top. Suppose one good thing is that the younger strikers might get a chance. I feel keiffer might have thrived in this team and we could do with a similar player to him for the final piece of the jigsaw. Hopefully get some development soon.

Hardest piece of the jigsaw to complete. Hoping Watters surprises and hits the ground running this season, imagine a goal against Norwich would really make things interesting

We'll get two in by close of window

Watching Watters on Saturday , for his goal he won the ball on the half way line , passed to Sawyers then sprinted to be in the right place for the pass from Odawda to score.
Take a look at it , I think Watters will thrive playing with the midfield we have now . But I also agree another striker or 2 wouldn't hurt .

You may be right, but a serious question will be 'of what quality' and 'are we taking what is left?

Lys Mousset is a out of contract and seems to fit what Morison is looking for i.e. young, pacey, athletic, strong, and has some flair about him. His wages might be a little over what we are looking to pay these days but if there isn't a transfer fee and we can afford to pay a little over our wage structure I think he would be a good signing.
He should hold some value due to his age and attributes especially if he has a good season or two.

You're just not looking at the market are you ?
How many young, or otherwise, players have been loaned out by the Prem clubs so far ? The answer is very few.
It happens season in, season out. They wait until they settle on their 25/30 man squad and then let people out on loan
II'm not in favour of the 1st September deadline but that's what we, and the rest of the Championship, are stuck with. The only ones being let out up to now are the ones that will be nowhere near the first team squad next season.
The players that are closer to the squads will be released once the clubs transfer activity has finished and nearer to deadline day. It's nerve-wracking and frustrating but, unfortunately, a necessary evil.

Agreed the position Morison knows most about is strikers, having been one all his career, he'll know what to get and when he can get them, which unfortunately for us is when the Premier League teams are ready as you've stated

Rangers looking to shift Kemar Roofe, definitely has the talent but seems to spend a bit of time on the treatment table. Could do a job at Cardiff?
