CROWD FOR SAT ?

Sun Jul 24, 2022 12:39 pm

Any idea how many tickets sold
Would be hoping for at least 20,000 for the first game of the season with a completely new team
Looking forward to this
be down on the friday making a weekend of it.

Re: CROWD FOR SAT ?

We really should be getting 25k plus with the hype around our new players and top class opposition.

Sadly Im gonna say 20k, as its going to take a long time to win back the '000's lost due to the regimes failure to work closely with the fans and build any sort of relationship, the apparabt failure to back Morison with minimal funds for the missing pieces to our fairly decent jigsaw and their knack of distancing themselves from their customers ( sorry long suffering supporters)

Im still going for win, and will be backing those on the pitch fighting for the points.

I hope we give Steve morison a good reception in our opening game he deserves it for how hard he’s worked this off season and looks to have made IMO best Cardiff side and style for a long time

Well over 14k season tickets sold. Not sure if we’ve surpassed 15k or not, someone with connections to the ticket office might be able to confirm.

Normally I’d guess around 21k but it’ll be interesting to see how the railway strikes affect the crowd.

19000 for me First game of the season being in the summer holiday never seem to be as high as i think it should be

Re: CROWD FOR SAT ?

The build up for months, excitement and everyone saying how positive they are feeling, plus Norwich City and say 2,000 fans. Has to be 22,000 plus

If nearly everyone believes in this new team should be 22,000-25,000

14,000 season ticket holders

No Xmas, not bad weather , not on tv, it’s a Saturday, 3pm , not a wintry October etc etc etc

No chance that many have sold yet. The bottom tier only holds 28,000 and at least 4,000 is the away end plus segregation. I can’t see Norwich selling out the full 3k with the rail strikes. A sell out crowd would be about 27,000 when you account for the segregation.

Good on you monty boy.

Getting wrecked and going clubbing in the big city? ;)

Realistically I’m going just under 20,000.
They may actually announce more but a lot of people away on holidays.

Sad thing is we lose and the crowd will drop for the next game sad really as we going to lose games and supporters should support whatever even the great Man City who pundits call the best team in the world lose that is football.

We should have over 20000 every game even if we are bottom of the table remember guys we are the 12th man

Think the train strike on Saturday will effect the away support, local services will be running a normal service, but they state this could change, and are advising people not to travel

Around 19k will be the average for awhile .... games like Norwich slightly more (23k) as they bring couple of thousand to boost crowd.... expecting 25k is unrealistic and based on nothing as previous seasons nowhere near 25k .... even in promotion seasons crowds only above that near end season....but will still get complaints that should be getting 25k based on new team and 15k season ticket holders and 4k walk up crowd as in previous seasons not sure where extra fans coming from especially in these financially trying times.....

Will Norwich still be bringing 2000 fans with a rail strike on ?
Thought it’d be nearer 1000-1400

Can't see the rail strike having much effect on Norwich's support when a return train ticket cost £160.

be about 19k but they will say 26k

Online is showing the following:

Canton stand - 702 tickets left
Ninian Stand - 2,200 Tickets left
Family stand - 1.850 tickets left
Grandstand - 1.375 tickets left
(Upper red tier not open)

6000 tickets left for home fans means the crowd currently will roughly be 17,000 plus whatever Norwich bring.

My calculation brings the home crowd to around 20,000.

Capacity (without top tier) - roughly 28,000
Tickets remaining - 6,127
Segregation - 1,000
Tickets sold - 28,000 - 6,127 - 1,000 = 20,873

You can add around 1,500-2,000 from Norwich and we're looking at around 22,000 so far. Not too bad.

You've not included the away end in those numbers.
Let's say the away end is 3,000 and segregation is 1,000 that means there is only 24,000 tickets for Cardiff fans available to buy. If there's 6,000 tickets left for Cardiff fans then we've currently sold about 18,000. Then you add on how ever many Norwich bring.

We average 4k walk up crowd depending on team we play...

Re: CROWD FOR SAT ?

Last seasons opener was 17.5k and would expect higher than that even with a rail strike.

May be lowered by the fixture being much earlier than usual. School summer holidays will only be a week old.

21k

I think a lot of their away support comes from places other than Norwich. Quite a few from London.

Can’t remember them ever bringing many by coach.

I’d be impressed and surprised if they bring 2k
