This was Cardiff's starting XI against Barnsley in last year

This was Cardiff's starting XI against Barnsley in last year's Championship opener. Next week against Norwich, Perry Ng might be the only survivor (if anything can be read into yesterday's lineup). Some change in 12 months!

A great turn around and the best one of all is that McCarthy isn’t the manager for this years first game. What a horrible time that was watching his dire football, with even worse results. I am excited for this season, but at the same time I’m not expecting big things although I think we could test the play off positions given a good run of results at some point during the season.

I've always said the players have to shoulder some responsibility on the field. Couldn't see that lot giving Swindon anything like the bossing we gave them yesterday.

Look at the bench, not much depth there in midfield or attack :o

We need to be fortunate with injuries until November

Hopefully a striker or two in this week to slot in on the bench for Norwich game.

Perhaps when Colwill is back he will be used as a striker/false nine, I do like his finishing ability :ayatollah:

Six players still there from last year who will all be in the squad.

Weve done well on midfield positions. The tail end still gives me the jitters as they are a few unknown quantities who are being asked to play tippy tappy football around our box. If they can do it, great, but its an if, especially week in week out against very good clubs.

The top end? Totally barren and empty.
