Old habits die hard.
Chris Sutton co commentating on Celtic v Norwich said ‘Norwich won’t face a passing and controlling side like Celtic next Saturday; it’ll be Cardiff city with their direct, no nonsense style’

Norwich win. Not an ideal first opponent when you have a brand new squad and no decent strikers.

Best time to be facing Norwich imo, they’re going to be up there so I’d imagine they’ll improve as the season goes on.

I agree with you, I know they are a yoyo team but it generally takes relegated teams a while to get going

I agree, best to face Norwich early on, they usually get better and better as the season goes on in the Championship.

Difference this season is Norwich haven’t lost any major players. They know each other inside out so I think they will hit the ground running.

Hopefully Dean Smith is also expecting us to have a 'direct, no nonsense style' and sets up accordingly. We could well catch them off guard if they haven't bothered paying attention to our pre-season.

Unlikely given the amount of prep in the modern game but would be nice.

It wouldnt surprise me if we won and won easily.

Norwich will not always be a yoyo club and opening day fixtures often throw up surprises a pmenty.

With all the media hype and the excitement generated by the club, we should be looking at top six come the end of August.

Re: LATEST NEWS " CARDIFF CITY v NORWICH CITY " MATCH THREAD

Norwich City boss Dean Smith says Adam Idah remains nearly a month away from full fitness, despite his recent pre-season exploits.

The 21-year-old has been tipped for a big season with the Canaries after seeing a promising campaign last season ended prematurely by a knee injury.

He has since been working to build up his fitness over the summer, ahead of Saturday's opening day clash with Cardiff City.

But Smith says the forward remains a doubt to face the Bluebirds, despite watching him play 80 minutes against Hibernian in pre-season over the weekend.

“Adam Idah’s gone and got 80 minutes today," he said. "You can tell from his game time in Scotland that he needs that as he’s about three weeks behind where we’d like him at the moment, but he’s had a long time off with injury.”

Norwich's style should lend itself to our new style, really good going forward but will be far from the best defensive style we will see this season.

Expecting a loss but if Cardiff can show some thing during the game i will leave happy. If we can put in a good 60 mins showing that we have changed i think thats not bad for our first game vs one of the promotion favs

Cardiff City have a few absentees. Ebou Adams is out for a number of months after ripping his pectoral muscle off the bone in a pre-season friendly against Cambridge United. He has had surgery on it and you can read more about it here.

Rubin Colwill and Isaak Davies are unavailable. They've missed most of pre-season and are back on the grass building up their fitness. The end of August is the expected return date for those two.

Joe Ralls is fully fit and ready to go as the new club skipper after missing the final pre-season friendly through injury.

For the visitors, new signings Isaac Hayden and Gabriel Sara are likely to be unavailable, while there will be a late call on Kieron Dowell. Ben Gibson (calf) and Sam Byram (thigh) also miss out this weekend. Tony Springett is also unavailable, having rolled his ankle.
