Where all our youngsters?

Sat Jul 23, 2022 10:32 am

I have travelled down from Barnet today :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Where all our youngsters?

The academy players, youngsters, the players that are suppose to be the best, where are they in todays starting line up?

Cardiff City : Allsop; Romeo, Ng, Kipre, Collins; Rinomhota, Wintle, Sawyers; Ojo, Watters, O'Dowda.

Subs: Alnwick, Campbell, Bagan, Nelson, Denham, King, Sang, Tanner, Whyte, Harris.

Yet they are all 19,20,21 and 22 years old now and this is the first team and yet the freebies are starting before our supposedly best and talented players?

Do any of the youngsters improve that starting XI? I'd say that's not far off our strongest team. Just need a good striker to replace Watters.

The op has a point then.

So really the majority of all our youngsters have not done that well, last year Dalman, Glen Williams and the usual posters were going on and on about how great they are and I was smashed for saying NO way were they all Championship standard and now not one can make our strongest line-up?
And Watters as you say and I agree is also not good enough.

Other posters slag of posters like me who said I did believe they were all good enough as my view.

Now look.

This game is the final dress rehearsal ahead of a tough (proper) opening game v Norwich Yo-Yo's; so it stands to reason the manager will play (as he has in training recently) his currently perceived 'Best XI' for said game

To disrespect many of our new players because they are 'free' signings is maybe to disrespect the manager's smart operating in the market; although that will out in the coming weeks

Maybe (and this is my opinion) he just thinks the current crop of youngsters are not quite enough?

I recall Forever Blue got slated last season for saying we were initially overloaded with youngsters. He was proved right and the club only recovered once Steve Morison took over and was able to bring in new (mainly outstanding) loan players

It wasn't that he (Annis) didn't want the youngsters to come through. I know him well enough to know he wants it more than most; but they have to be good enough and it seems the manager has reservations...

I would ask the same question as jimmy_rat (above)

I really wanted our youngsters to make it, i am one of the biggest supporters of our youth and see players come through.

But the Chairman Dalman & Glen Williams should not of made out how great they all were, it was madness to believe 12 could all arrive in one season from the Academy etc , I got shot down for saying that one year ago.

They were all thrown in due to cost cutting, not on their true ability.

This actually saddens me to see None in our maybe strongest team

Why bring in players at some cost and not play them? I always thought football today is a squad game so expect to see youngsters play as and when required during season.. or are people expecting this starting 11 play in every game this season?? Enough people saying be relegated if dont bring in better players club does that and not happy youngsters not playing Wtf do people want ?!

Just at the game now and frankly the starting XI isnt far what what weve put out. I think the kids that are left on the bench have promise at best and do compliment the squad, but the Harris's, Denhams, Kings, Bagans of this world aint starting material yet.

Denham being the best hope as Ive quite liked what ive seen.

The best 2, Colwill and Davies, are both injured. Denham, Harris, King, Sang and Bagan on the bench.
Lot of fuss about nothing as usual.

Allan,

If we had continued to play all those youngsters last season, we were going down.

I believe in 1 -3 new youngsters put in match day squads, not 10-12.

the only 2 that come through and will make it for me was Davies who i think is better suited on the wing, but has to learn to play that way, he played there against Luton and never went wide, stayed inside all game, and never ran the channels, with his pace and non stop running i think he will better suit the wing. and Colwell, who both have injuries though i believe.

other than them 2, i think bagan is the only other youngster really missing ?

Arguably our best players last season were all youngsters Colwill,Davies,Bagan,McGuiness and Harris and we didn’t go down. We were badly let down by our 8 senior players who have now all gone!
I’m sure all 5 youngsters above plus King and Denham will all make further progress this season.
