So this new striker?

Wed Jul 20, 2022 3:14 pm

Wouldnt by any chance be Hugill, and Norwich dont want him to open against us, but will conclude a deal after the opening game?

It happened with Alan Lee at Rotherham?

Whereas I disagree with a lot of Wez's comments, he has said to add Crole to the matchday squad in place of Harris and I agree as he at least has shown he can finish and is more robust than Harris

Judging by Hugills comments I can’t see him coming here. He seems to want to make an impression at Norwich and he’s happy there.

Plus Hugill isn’t really a real goal scorer. Hard worker but we got enough of them. We need a natural finisher, easier said than done I know.

Is this the striker we apparently signed a month ago but for whatever reason can’t be named?

Agree on Crole but can't see it being Hugill he seems to have played himself into contention at Norwich and said himself he wants to do well for them.

I think more will start to happen when the prem teams come back off their tours. They probably wanted whoever it is to go away with the parent club and assess them with the 1st team.

It probably means we have to make do with what we have for the Norwich game at least which isn't ideal but I would rather that than a panic buy.

Some people claiming to be ITK don't know anything so not sure why they bother posting about it

Probably hoping we’d sign a striker within a week of posting their “knowledge” so they can act ITK. “That’s the striker I promised we were signing a few days ago”

Which new striker are you talking about?

I didn’t know we were signing one, lots of rumours of course.

With regards to Crole I don’t know him and I’ve never seen him play but it’s a huge step from under-18’s/under-21’s to top half Championship.

Crole set up the 1st goal against Newport and scored the 2nd ,he is good enough for the championship, he's scored goals at every level in the academy and for wales I think its time for him to set up ,he's quick and direct ,a natural finisher unlike Harris.

The club probably leaks factious stuff about signing a striker to keep the pressure off as it’s blatantly obvious where we are lacking and that’s where the noise will come from the fans.
Add to that those in the ‘know ‘and we are where we are ….no strikers .
Best to believe it when it happens ….sadly

I prefer to take the gaffers word at face value as up to now he been nothing but honest and right on the money. Patience is a virtue not shared by many on here. The people making the most sense on here are the ones who advocate something happening once the premier league teams have finished their pre-season preps and decided on their squads. Then I think we'll see some decent loan options become available .And importantly any such player will have benefited from a proper pre-season with their parent club and would hit the ground running.

The transfer window closes on the 1/9,if we have to wait until the last day we would have played 8 league games.God help us if that's the case.

That's a worst case scenario Sticky and I don't for a minute think it will come to that.
