Cardiff City Reject:

League 2 Doncaster Rovers

Manager Gary McSheffrey says he's set to sit down with former Cardiff City playmaker Lee Tomlin for the upcoming season and sort some sort of deal out, at the moment Tomlin has been playing for free.

The 33-year-old left the Bluebirds by mutual consent back in October, before signing a short-term deal at Walsall where it never worked out.

He was released at the end of last season, and is on trial at the Keepmoat Stadium, where he's been training and playing for free.

Tomlin is expected to play for Rovers in tonight's pre-season friendly with Rotherham United, having already netted the decisive goal from the spot against against Huddersfield Town, to hand Rovers their fourth win in as many pre-season matches.

Discussing his performance, McSheffrey said:

"He was good again; he showed some moments of brilliance but his out-of-possession play was good – he kept the structure and discipline was pleasing.”

“We’ll have a sit down with Lee this week and see if we can come to some sort of agreement.”

McSheffrey added: "He’s enjoying his football more than he’s enjoyed it for five or six years.

"He’s a good player at the level.”

"We’ll get Tuesday out the way and see where it goes from there.”

This I think Mike is either the 9th or 10th club.

And the famous words “I’ve changed”

It never ceases to amaze me how someone who clearly has (had) bags of talent, I don’t think anyone would argue that point, has not put the basic effort of fitness in. He’s had some injuries but one has to ask if many of these are down to a lack of fitness rather than bad luck.

Was a decent player Tomlin, shame really.

Tomlin falls into a similar category as Ravel Morrison.

RM had better quality but both had bags of talent but not the mental attitude.

Looks like he may con another club into giving him a contract

Steal a living as a professional footballer for another year
