CCFC:

The eleven who played the final 30 minutes against Cheltenham Town start this evening in Shrewsbury!

Subs: Allsop, Nelson, Denham, McGuinness, Romeo, Collins, Wintle, King, Sang, Leahy, Whyte, Harris, Crole.

Isaak Davies, Rubin Colwill and Ebou Adams have all been missing through varying injury issues, so very unlikely we will see them play at Shrewsbury.

On the touchline for the Shrews is experienced manager Steve Cotterill, who was appointed in November 2020.

Boasting an impressive promotion record, Cotterill led Cheltenham Town to two promotions, as well as winning EFL titles during spells at Notts County and Bristol City.

Last term, Shrewsbury accumulated 50 points and safely sustained their place in League One, notably defeating Rotherham United 3-0, who went on to gain promotion to the Championship.

Hopefully Ollie Tanner will get some time on the pitch. I'm imagining that SM has a pretty good idea of his first team atm but we probably won't see them all in action together til Swindon first half maybe.

I expect about 200 City fans will be there, many chosing Cheltenham or Swindon instead out of the three. I will be up there if you have any issues get in touch 07522 321389

Anyone else got the stream and it’s lagging, slow motion, jumpy, black screening on occasion and green picture break up?

Max Watters wins possession in the box, but his first-time shot is blocked well by a Shrewsbury centre-back.

Cardiff well on top in the early stages

Re: CCFC TEAM: SHREWSBURY v CARDIFF CITY:

That doesn't look good. Joe Ralls goes down clutching his thigh. Medical team on.

Certainly look very comfortable and it’s good to see players passing it about. Ojo looks a bit more on it tonight and Sawyers is doing very well. I know it’s only a friendly but I’d like to see a bit more urgency in the final third after taking it up to their area.

Absolutely nothing up front. Its getting boring now. Trying to stay patient but the failure to get a striker in pre-season is going to be very costly. I also think the decision not to play stronger opposition is a bad idea too. Shrewsbury are not testing our back four. We should have played a premier league or foreign side.

Back underway. Joe Ralls off and Ryan Wintle on after the skipper's first-half injury. Wintle takes the arm band.

Should have been a goal! An absolutely stunning turn around the corner from Sang, who finds Collins on the run. The first-time cross finds Harris in the box, but he can't get it under, Harris that should of been a goal?

Mark Harris tries, smashing a half-volley miles over the bar

Re: CCFC TEAM: SHREWSBURY v CARDIFF CITY:

Tue Jul 19, 2022 8:56 pm

I won't state the obvious but..... We need 2 strikers

Re: CCFC TEAM: SHREWSBURY v CARDIFF CITY:

Tue Jul 19, 2022 8:56 pm

Its stating the bleeding obvious, but tonights game underlines how badly we need a striker
If we start the season with Watter and/or Harris upfront then goals will be very few and far between.

Re: CCFC TEAM: SHREWSBURY v CARDIFF CITY:

Harris missed two one on one with keeper.... last one goalie already down before he shot and still managed to hit it straight at him very poor attempts by him

We didn't exactly create chances ... but what did notice was the lack of shots at goal when in good positions? Happened on numerous occasions all ended up with poor ball distribution in area aimed at no one ..

Re: CCFC TEAM: SHREWSBURY v CARDIFF CITY:

I agree that we need strikers, but I personally would be more than happy to start the season with Watters. From what be seen of him so far he’s definitely got something. Should have scored one today, but overall play was decent. And I don’t see what any other striker would have done to look good in the first half. If Watters had Harris’ chances we would have won comfortably.
Same old same old with Ojo, I wasn’t a fan last time he was here because he lacks something. He can do something brilliant once every 3 to 4 games and then just look average for the remainder. Let’s hope Tanner is back soon because I’d like a front 3 of Tanner, Watters and O’Dowda.

Annis I really hate criticising our players but I feel some are not good enough for varying reasons.
King nowhere near good enough yet. Back to the under 23s imo.
Bagan is now the worst of our 3 fullbacks
Harris is not the striker we need. Try to sell imo.

My team for Norwich

Allsop

Vontae. Denham. Cedric. Collins

Ojo. Sawyers. Wintle. Rhino. O’Dowda

NEW STRIKER

Subs / Alnwick, Romeo ,NG Nelson. Sang. Leahy. Tanner. Harris.
