" Fitness levels "

One thing we won't be lacking this season is high fitness levels.

Fascinating after the game today to see the new fitness coach working with a group of the players on the pitch.

He was getting them to sprint from the goal line to the halfway line. At one point he told them they were going to do that 12 more times and Watters turned round and said "PJ, did you say 12?!".

Clear he doesn't take any shit from the players as well.

We've had low fitness levels for years so I think this is a very big factor and appointing him will turn out to be a very positive step.

Bit of a sweeping statement. We’ve lacked pace in most areas all over the pitch. Can’t say Don Cowie or Bellers weren’t fit.

I had a look at them doing the first 2. Couldn’t believe how big Kipre was.

At half time against County Ollie Tanner as doing the same, was streets in front of the others, pulling away at each turn.

One look at SM and you can see fitness levels are a priority. Forget about someone who can dance on the ball as that is no good if you can only manage one tango.

Fair point. We had individuals who have had high fitness levels but not as a squad.

Seems this season the coaches are working on getting the whole squad to have high levels of fitness.

I actually smiled at that. Ill take that statement if I may and use it during my training courses! (giving you full credit of course!)

Speed is one thing mate, doing it for 90 mins is the key.

Correct. Not since Malky. His squad was always in top shape.

I love fit teams like this, the squad looks decent aswell, so as players tire we have plenty of cover :ayatollah:

We need to start scoring first in games and making them easy, so many times last year it was a hard slog because we were always one nil down.
