‘ Rubin Colwill?? ‘

Rubin Colwill is def injured.

Apparently I just had a pm to say he has a problem with one of his legs??

Rubin Colwill??

There was still no sign of Rubin Colwill after now 3 games , and without clarification on the reason behind his absence, questions are likely to grow.

Apparently not injured?
Morison is not keen on Rubin that has been said many times, behind the scenes.
Yes they would take an offer.

For me Rubin Colwill is one of our best players out of this current squad.

Those questions may well have reached a crescendo during the opening 10 to 15 minutes as Cardiff struggled to find any sort of meaningful creative spark against League 1 Cheltenham.

He would be in my starting 11 definitely, failing that as an impact substitute from the bench.
If we were to lose him I believe he would shine somewhere else.

If he isn't injured there can be only one possible explanation and that is a club or clubs are sniffing around his availability. I can't believe SM is stupid enough to so alienate our best young player. If he is injured then there is a simple explanation for him not yet featuring so if it's that just say so and the speculation ends.

We are a selling club so maybe SM is being told not to play him and risk him getting injured.

I heard last season, January that Leeds offered £2 m

Surely a statement needs to be made if injured?

Hes been in the promo videos and training clips. If he was going I'm not sure we would be shown in a our away strip that was released today. Hopefully just carrying a knock

I noticed a lot last season Morrison moaned and groaned about colwills work rate and I sat behind the dug out a few games last season and he always was waving his arms about and shouting at Rubin,he’s one of best players and I just think Morrison can be arrogant I just think Morrison doesn’t rate him which I find odd he’s shown his class with us and wales

Apparently there bad feeling behind the scenes, Morison big fan of the younger one, not Rubin.

Wouldn’t be shocked to here that annis find that strange very strange,I’ve been impressed with Joel mind in the games against Cambridge and Newport

If there's a clash of ego's there's only one winner but to lose Colwill would be a blow unless we get a sell on clause.

Re: ‘ Rubin Colwill?? ‘

Sat Jul 16, 2022 7:33 pm

Our (Vinnys) model appears to buy or sign youngish players with something to prove and do what the jacks do and sell for big bucks after a decent season.

Looking at our assets Rubin is our only player a big club would take a look at as a potential buyer for over 5 million.

My guess is SM will be gone before Rubin in a clash of ego's.

We have a better squad than last season with the exception of Kieffer, the pressure will be on SM if we don't start well.

Rubin was in the full Wales squad that only recently finished their camp. My guess he is on a slower ramp to the new season than those whose last game was two months ago.

I think the jury is out to where even his best position is and we have no idea what system we'll be playing, but that is one hell of a hard-working midfield so it should give the more talented players a good platform to demonstrate their abilities and he has a lot of those.

We all want players to work harder but some are just that little bit more gifted in the finese department

I spoke to Rubin at the Newport game on Tuesday. He said he’s still got a hamstring problem hence why he hasn’t been playing & also that he should be back for the start of the season. Whether that’s the truth or not, I’m unsure. But that’s what he told me

Re: ‘ Rubin Colwill?? ‘

Colwill has that touch of creativity that few of the squad has.
Would always be a starter for me so hope Morison is able to sort out if there’s anything going on ….would be a big loss especially if we get some decent strikers in to play infront of him

Re: ‘ Rubin Colwill?? ‘

Sat Jul 16, 2022 8:40 pm

He’s not as great as people make out on here in my honest opinion. I wouldn’t like to lose him as he does have potential but he’s far from being a regular starter for me.

Common knowledge that Morison doesn't like him and has said stuff to him that in my view is out of order.

Don't think Morison wants him at the club.

It's certainly not 'common knowledge' that Morison doesn't rate him - perhaps only to those 'in the know' on this messageboard. My more likely guess is he has some injury/isn't fit, to feature yet.

Agreed, what have people seen or read to come to this conclusion?

Colwill is raw. Has talent and nice touches but currently lacks the aggressive nature required to succeed in the Championship. Doesn't have the speed to play out wide or work rate to play as a central midfielder.

Could be good as a false 9 role or even as a 10. Still has a lot of developing to do though, in my opinion, and by no means would he be in my starting 11 at this stage at least.

I'm rooting for him though. I love seeing youngsters break through :ayatollah:

I don’t doubt his quality but if I was SM I’d send him on loan for a year to a lower division. I don’t think he’s quite yet at the stage where he should be the first name on the team sheet

I think Sawyers starts in his position this year.

He’s a big lad but not very physical. A year in the lower divisions where he’d undoubtedly be the best player on the pitch most weeks would do wonders for his physicality and probably his confidence

That's good enough for me mate. If you asked him the question and he gave that answer. That should put all the conspiracy theories to bed.

As usual people on here reading too much into the situation. Spreading rumours and making their own decisions based on that.

Morison rates Colwill and of course can see the potential but he’s only just 20 and he can see his game is nowhere near complete at the moment. There’s parts to his game that needs improving and that takes time hence why he’s used occasionally.

Just how it should be and is with every young, potential player at this stage of his career.

For the record, Rubin Colwill has a big future at this club and will be managed well by Steve Morison's honest approach :thumbright:

Spot on, mate. Definitely a work in progress and (as I state above) is being 'managed' alongside other potential stars of the future :ayatollah:

Correct posters here thinking he’s 27!!

So he's good for for Rob Page and to Wales in a very competitive Wales team , but Morison doesnt think he is championship level ?

Fair enough - if that's what Morison thinks - then is wrong - very wrong.

I really hope he doesnt start calling out players like he did when he first arrived - as he will very quickly lose the dressing room - and that will be the end of him - and we'll have to pure footbal cr@p again

He's said the total opposite to this. Just feels he needs to help put defensively more.
Only reason he's not invovled is due to a niggle. Morrison rates him highly and wants to put pressure on him to see what he's all about.

I thought morison does rate him as an upcoming talent as in his interview last season he compared him the way he’s going to manage colwill to the way pep managed Phil foden, I think colwill can be a match winner on times and will be a great asset in a season or two but he was inconsistent last season and in the high work rate team morison wants to build he doesn’t quite fit in yet whereas his younger brother fits the style better. My opinion of course probs wrong but this is what I thought.
