Everton youngster Jarrad Branthwaite is reportedly close to sealing a season-long loan deal with PSV Eindhoven, despite alleged interest from Cardiff City.

Reports had previously suggested the Bluebirds had expressed an interest in the defender, but it now seems he will be plying his trade in the Eredivisie next term.

According to The Guardian, former Everton director of football Marcel Brands who is now at PSV, has been tracking Branthwaite for some time, and it's believed a move to the Dutch top flight is the next appropriate step in the 20-year-old's development

We dont need a youngster on loan in that position. What we need is an experienced old head to command the back line which i fear is vulnerable. Another signing like Bamba and we would be a force - assuming we get a striker in as well.
