I answer with football for 1, he quickly jumps on what team, I said Cardiff city mate......He said "What are you a thug?"

Never felt so belittled!

Mate, i'm the other end of fourty, & iv'e come across this situation loads of times. Mostly from our egg shape ball cousins, but some times from the likes of plastic Manc U, Livpoo, Arsunal Etc, etc. Thats worse, imho. Twats!

I topped the first stage of interview, then this english tosser (no offence ) says that!...the HR director says to me you "had the biggest grilling in first interview of the other candidates" they had no list of questions like the first interview, then proceeded to ask questions off the top their heads.

If they dont give you the job write a letter of complaint, they cant say things like that. FFS they cant even ask you if you smoke anymore.

Im 30 yrs young and i even phoned my mother to say about it i really couldnt believe it...hope it was a test of my temperament but cant see it..........i felt so small, im 6ft wearing an armani suit and tie ...couldn't have looked a thug if i had tried!....... Pissed me right off

Its out of order, the way political correctness has gone mad, if you appealed (assuming you dont get the job) I bet they would offer you some sort of job. I know of people who were laid off and on appeal got there job back

I had something similar about 20 years ago. I went for a job working for a car hire company in Woking, Surrey. I was doing well in the interview and then he asked what pub I drank in. Granted the pub I used as my local was on the rougher side of town (if you can get that in Woking ) but I never got the job. I went for the same job in the same company a few months later, due to a change of circumstances at the company, and I got the job. Similar thing, really, and completely out of order, but probably goes to show that it's the luck of the draw on who interviews you. Another bloke may have been a City fan and you may have got the job

That's pretty outrageous really and says a lot about his personal prejudices "All Cardiff City Fans are Thugs" rather than letting you explain why you support Cardiff City. Grounds for appeal I would think.
On the bigger picture, it is an example of what people think of Cardiff fans - in the same League as Millwall and Leeds.
Everybody is tarred with the same brush.

My boss said exactly the same to my mate from work who's a Millwall fan. He doesn't talk to me about football after I laughed when England got smashed by Germany in the World Cup

just got home from a meeting in derby. with a few derby fans and a Leeds fan.they new I was Cardiff so predictably all they wanted to talk about was how much trouble did I think there would be Saturday.
This is a typical line from fans of other clubs I've met.
Just hope we don't prove them right and behave ourselves Saturday.

Very surprised they said that. First thing is to get the job. If you don't then remember that 60,000 Employment Tribunals have been successfully brought by individuals who felt they were unfairly treated at interview.

I can pretty much guarantee that were you to submit a claim [I can advise as I know a little bit about this], you would have a very good chance of screwing them for a substantial amount.

A few years ago my boss and i were interviewing for a new member of staff. We went through the bog standard questions and the conversation turned to sport/leisure. My boss jokingly asked this lad what team he supported as it was important that he get on with me as i was a CCFC fan. The lad said oh i dont like cardiff. Their fans are awful people. I support Saints and the Cardiff fans were thugs at St Marys last month. The lad had interviewed poorly and wasnt going to get the job but saying what he said made me cringe.

yes it seems strange , in this P.C world gone mad we can still be stigmatized for following the city, that manager would,nt get away with it if you was Asian , Gay or disabled !
