CCFC 2 NEWPORT COUNTY 0

Remember Championship v League 2

El King outstanding as was Joel Colwill

James Crowl made a difference

Mark Harris and Watters waste of time would get us relegated

Newport County were awful

But another match for our players

Clean sheet

Our midfield looked good

Wiggley looked good shame Cian Asford wasn’t used

Certainly agree re Colwill and our punchless attack.
Annis, what was Tanner like? I missed the first 45.

Tanner is good, but is still raw and his final finishing needs sorting, his final ball let’s him down.

We have scored 5 goals in 2 friendly games against lower league teams but have been crap in the box. We will be bottom 3 without some serious strikers.

What was encouraging to see last night was how well they pushed on from the bottom 3rd to the top 3rd of the field, especially in the first half. They have a nucleus of a good squad. Collins, Tanner, and King stood out for me. In the 2nd Half when McGuinnes came on, it was good to see how him and Nelson broke up Newport attacks time after time. Joel Colwill was then collecting out of defence and propelling up the field. That tells me Morison is getting them to play a certain way and, it was effective. Newport were poor, but if against Cheltenham and Swindon;Shrewsbury they can play a similar way then the signs are promising. I think Collins and Tanner are going to be huge stars at Cardiff. Hoping to see Sawyers and Rhinamota play next 2 games to see how well the squad adapts to that little bit of quality. Lacking up top 3rd though. And as much work that Harris and Watters put in, there is no cutting edge with them. Can't see where the goals are going to come from. I thought the Back 4 with Collins, Nelson,McGuinnes and Bagan looked composed. With Morrison to come back it is a strong, solid defence. Couple more additions and Ralls and O dowda, sawyers and Rhinamota I'm excited to get going. What would your starting XI be for Norwich be?
