‘ Cardiff City bringing in loan players ‘

Tue Jul 12, 2022 11:48 am

Steve Morison for the last few weeks has still been trying to bring in 5 loan players and hopefully with his new contacts in the Premier League Man City, Leeds etc we should see these clubs loaning us the players before the start of the season.

We need the strikers ASAP in My Opinion.

Steve Morison says he is very excited by this new squad, but I honestly feel it needs some players on loan from the Premier to give that extra quality.

Personally I would of liked them in now for the pre-season games, still plenty of time.

Let’s be honest not that many clubs loan more than 8 players outside England.

Cardiff being affiliated with the FAW, if Cardiff were to loan in or loan out a player aged 21 or over from or to an English club it will be subject to the FIFA quotas. It is why you often see Cardiff announce signings "subject to international clearance" due to the need to ratify an international transfer certificate (ITC).

The new rules, as things stand, do not cover domestic loans so Cardiff, Swansea , Newport are ok for another three years, but FIFA has said national associations must bring their regulations in line within three years - so by July 1, 2025 at the latest.

It should also be added that players under the age of 21 have to be club-trained to be exempt from the quota. That means they have to be registered with the parent club between the ages of 15 and 21 for three seasons or 36 months, regardless of whether the period is continuous or not. So, the very slight positive news is that these rules are not in place when trying to recruit club-trained players under the age of 21, like Tommy Doyle was last season, so Cardiff could still recruit players like Tommy Doyle.

Chelsea and Man City, mostly. As they both have feeder clubs abroad. Not so sure about the others though.

I guess the question to ask is why was this rule brought in?

Was the original loan system open to abuse ?

The richer/bigger clubs have always tended to stockpile players and loan them out to smaller sides and reap benefits if the spell is successful. According to FIFA, this has disrupted the competitive balance between clubs.

Atalanta in Italy had 63 players out on loan last season. I do believe though, if the player is under 21 then they are not subject to the rule, somebody else might be able to verify that.

Morison has always said he wants the maximum five loan players this season but the Premier League clubs won’t release them until they’re sure the won’t use them this season and the Premier League players have just started training so we have to be patience!

Watched a bit of the Man Utd v Liverpool friendly and both those teams playing all their fringe players and young players as well as their top players.

Proves the point that some Premier League managers haven't yet made their mind up on what players they're going to send out on loan.

Apart from Wolves no Premier League club has sent more than 2 players out on loan yet.

Crying out for that extra quality tonight up front, pinging it around but little threat from Watters and Harris
Tanner is our only bright player up front at the moment

What annoys me is Morison and the committee know Harris and Watters are not good enough yet make them a big part of our first team and knew this last season.

He's hardly going to say anything derogatory against any player he's looking to offload. Would be extremely silly on his part and most on here have been football fans long enough to know this as well.

Wow Martin’s back again.

And any real football manager / fan / committee can see or could see Harris is not a Championship player

Martin,

Harris should of gone 2-3 seasons ago .

Watters should of been sold.

We should of had at least one Championship striker in weeks ago.

You can have an amazing team, but NO good strikers your asking for trouble .

I agree entirely but its good sense if your a manager not to publicly slag off any player and James Collins is an example. Derby press seem quite happy they are getting him but do you think they would have him if Morison publicly stated that he couldn't hit a cows arse with a shovel. Besides Morison doesn't strike me as a man who's panicking just yet. If Collins has gone something must be in the pipeline.

Where do I ask them to slag them off?

Morison has done that enough with our kids.

I mean even keep them all this time, I mean they should not even be here, they are that bad.
