Gareth Bale aiming to stay in USA for the long term

Tue Jul 12, 2022 8:33 am

Updated: Sky News

Tuesday 12th July 2022

Gareth Bale:

“I’m not in the USA for the short-term, I want to make my mark on this league and to make it to the next Euros and maybe one more.”

“I had another option, I’m not going to go to detail, but for me this felt the right place.”

“We did way up all the options of Cardiff, but this is the place I want to be and I can hopefully play football as long as I can here now.”

Gareth Bale has announced his US deal is not a short term project and he wants to play on beyond the next Euros. At least that will save us the will he/won't he join us saga again next year.

The more you have the more you want. BALE is no More Bluebird fan as I am a Jack's fan. I Wonder what sort of reception he will get when he next plays at Cardiff City Stadium? He may have Bern born in Cardiff but Bern away to long now. Hope playing in America won't back fire on him. He could have said straight away he wasn't going to play for us and not lead us on and play games, people say he is the greatest Welsh player I'm afraid I disagree with that. Better than the Great John Charles I don't think so. Maybe my opinion will be slammed but every one is entitled to their opinion. I bet the Jacks are ebjoying this as one of Wales best players returns home to them.

Personally for his family and himself, Bale def did the right thing going to USA

I’ve been following Sky and he is becoming bigger and bigger on the world stage.

Annis this is what it's all about he more or less said so... yes obviously better for his family but ultimately it's all about him and his brand .... but no matter what it wont raise MLS status they've tried since 70s with pele beckenbauer and the like at Cosmos... as the profile improved that much? Not really all got is a good usa team but with 100m + population that's least you expect... anyway hopefully his statement will put paid to nonsense of a return... he didn't sound at all interested in city return last month or in future so move on

100% Bale has never supported Cardiff City, Even Bellamy was more and he has told me to my face I have never really been a City fan, growing up he was a Liverpool fan and still is. But does look for our results.

As disappointing as we are he didn't come to us, I have to agree it was better for Gareth, his fanily and his brand

Chris and me, but what did we really have to offer compared to the USA, I 100% believe Bale chose the right place.

I agree with this but he really should have stopped the Cardiff rumours early doors, left a little bitter tasteful I’m honest.

I agree with that, a little bit of respect by saying it straight himself that he had decided on the USA.

Yes, along with a line like "they made me financial offer I couldn't refuse" !! He and his agent said "it's not about the money" until he was offered the big bucks !!

Honesty is the key.

Like many leading footballers in their agent-led-money-dominated bubble, he's become a product more than a person. I'm not sure how someone with £150 million in the bank needs to consider his family's financial future, but - put it this way - were he not Welsh and Cardiff borne, I'd view him as a complete prick.

The same one he gets every time. Any Welsh fan who does otherwise needs their head sorting out.

Why would you view him as a complete prick? Surely if he wasn’t welsh nor Cardiff born you’d care even less about where he ended up. He went for the best option offered to him financially. It’s not like he threw anyone under the bus or purposely delayed negotiations to secure a better deal.

If we were in the Premier League I’m sure Bale and Rambo would come home, it’s the League where top players want to play! It’s a pity it didn’t coincide with our time in the top division, the only place the Capital of Wales team should be!
