‘ Rubin Colwill ‘

I actually agree with Glen on this:

Rubin actually should start in most hands this season.

‘ Rubin Colwill ‘

By Glen Williams ( Junior Reporter )

Rubin Colwill is arguably the crown jewel in the youngsters that came through, many failed but Colwill shone through.

Clearly a gifted footballer, with the ability to hit teams with devastating effect on the counter-attack. He is technically excellent with the ball at his feet and has the ability to score and create from that No.10 or second striker spot.

It's safe to say there is more expectation on him next season after earning more Wales honours over the last 12 months. He needs to improve his work off the ball, that is a pre-requisite in the Championship, but it will be genuinely exciting to see what he will do when afforded the chance with the ball at his feet this season.

Hes a decent prospect, but certainly no Ramsay, Blake, Earnshaw... not even a Ledley or a Gunter.

He's a youngster coming through, but doesnt give me the impression we will lose him to a big club anytime soon.

Ffs earnie had to be sent away on loan before he came good, Blake was a 3rd division player , I'm sure your just on a negative wind up on her .

Hes a great prospect ,got the talent ,just needs to work more still young ,he looks like he's lost a bit of weight recently that can only help him .

I'm getting the same vibe. I've just blocked him. First person since I've been on this.

Morison did say a few weeks before the end of the season that we should wait to see what he’ll be like next season.

Got a feeling he’ll be our starting striker against Norwich and Hugill will sign after that game.

I have Colwill at the same level as when Adam Matthews came through. I have him no where near a Ramsey or Ledley level.

I can't see many coming in for Colwill which to me will be good for us as we do need him to see us through this transition.

Our new midfield has more workers than manpower, which will allow him to toss around up top with little defensive responsibilities.

IMO he is a striker or second striker, he is a difference-maker....How Morison gets the best out of him will be my marker of SM's ability as a coach/manager.

Anyone can set up a difficult to beat team, even Mick had a good crack at it, we need a difference maker like a Whitts this kid is our closest thing to it unless the prodigal son returns of course (Rambo)

Colwill is nowhere near being a certain starter. He’s too slow and almost awkward at times. IF he starts finding pace in those treacle boots I’d say he would be a key player for us but nothing I’ve seen says he will step up. He’s a perfect sun to get a goal when play breaks up.

Seriously? The kid is 20 years of age, played bit parts last season and won us some games on his own. He has raw talent in abundance, and you basically say he isn’t good enough.

If you’re click baiting, it’s worked because I’m hooked!

As for saying “certainly no Ramsey, Blake, Earnshaw” or even a Gunter or Ledley, you’re a fool.

Only part of that statement I agree with is he’s not on Ramsey’s level. He’s more talented than Blake, Earnie, Gunter and Ledley.

I’d be very surprised if Rubin doesn’t go onto have a good Premier League career as he clearly has the talent to do it!

Tell me where Ive said hes not good enough?

As with many posters, you conveniently omit where I have said hes a 'decent prospect'

Your summise that he is better than Earnie etc is purely subjective and your point of view is valid as is mine.

Agree. He just doesn’t seem to have that energy or turn of pace. Great footwork, technically gifted and he can score the odd great goal. But he really needs to bust a gut and show some more energy and desire for me. On and off the ball. If he adds that to his game then he will be a great player and a starter every time. The downside is, he won’t be with us long after

You’ve pretty much summarised it by saying “Hes a decent prospect, but certainly no Ramsay, Blake, Earnshaw... not even a Ledley or a Gunter.”

You don’t have to directly say it. He’s the best thing to come out of our academy for years, give the kid a chance! He’s had one season of professional football.

I personally think he will do extremely well as a False 9 / Second Striker.
Has all the raw materials to have a fantastic career. If he works on his fitness, he can go onto have a career at a high level.
