‘ CARDIFF CITY NEW STRIKER ‘

Fri Jul 08, 2022 3:22 pm

Steve Morison will start the pre-season friendlies with NO new striker.

Steve Morison said they are No nearer to getting a decent striker on loan or permanent.

City are toiling hard behind he scenes to bring in at least one forward over the coming weeks. It is understood they are exploring both permanent and loan options at the minute, but there are no players close to signing imminently.

Things could change over the coming days or weeks.

But good strikers cost money and after the sale of Kieffer plus the bonus. City should have over £4mill available to spend on one??

Morison has been looking for a decent striker since Kieffer Moore left around 6 months ago.

As things stand regarding forwards / strikers at Cardiff City:

Steve Morison has made it clear James Collins can go, but once he finds a new striker.

Cardiff have Max Watters 1 goal / 11 appearances , James Collins 3 goals / 29 appearances (who is being kept until a new striker arrives ( League 2 clubs Derby & Pompey will have to wait) , Mark Harris ( 5 goals / 54 appearances) and Isaak Davies ( 2 goals / 28 appearances)who is currently injured, are City’s striker options.

CARDIFF CITY WILL ENTERTAIN AT HOME LEAGUE 1 CAMBRIDGE UNITED TOMORROW / THEN NEXT WEEK NEWPORT COUNTY AT HOME / BOTH GAMES IN THE ATHLETIC STADIUM & TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE.

Without a new striker surely we have to give Watters a good chance to prove if he's got any real goalscoring ability.

100%

Cambridge & Newport games should give him plenty of confidence.

Agreed. We will use the loan market I imagine. Generally speaking, loan transfers happen later in the market as clubs want to ensure their squads have sufficient depth first. You may also find clubs wanting to sell players, that they are unable to, and become open to loan moves later in the window.

Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley has revealed Cardiff City have made it clear that James Collins would be free to leave this summer but conceded that Pompey will likely lose out to another interested party.

There may be a trialist or 2 tomorrow perhaps?

Last season at Bath we had a trialist that turned out to be Marley Watkins

Why does this not surprise me.

I called it yesterday. A footballing board would help to resolve the issue, but a regime full of businessmen will demand we go as we are.

Dont jump up down with delight yet.... he says no nearer but window doesnt close for weeks everyone knows That strikers are always hardest to get in so let's just wait until season starts...... not ideal but there again sure we are not alone and still plenty of time to sort it out ..... or do people actually believe we wont get in couple of strikers before end of transfer window?

Who's jumping up and down with delight? I really dont know why you would say such a thing. I'm actually worried.

At this moment, and as every day goes by, I do not believe we will get in two strikers, but I hope I'm wrong.

I believe we will panic buy (borrow) and bring in whoever is available in the last few hours or days, but it will unlikely be anyone of substance.

I think we all knew that this would be the most difficult one to get done, and FIFA's new load rule would have only had made this more difficult

Are you for real???

Allan,

Many might hate Tan and prove they are doing a diabolical job, but Cardiff City comes first and that’s who we love.

I’ve renewed my season ticket for the 51st consecutive season and can tell you now I want to see decent football and of course without a doubt my club challenging for promotion.

If Cardiff had 5 relegations I would still be there.

You need to grow up and stop talking nonsense.

Some times in adversity a player can make te step up and grasp the opportunity - so i hope one of our strikers do - if they dont - then - we know what will happen - mid - low table probably bottom 6 finish

This will take time. Probably till the end of the window.

It will probably be a loan deals for the forward players - 2 x strikers needed.
Assuming the gaffer will need to wait.

Then James Collins will leave.
