Think he’d do well bank there, though this probably opens the door for Downes to go. Like for like I’d say.

Agreed. Decent Championship player though and good for Wales that he will likely be playing week in and week out in a system familiar to Wales'

When fit, still always first choice for Wales.
Honestly if we had signed him, you would of been praising him.

No i wouldn't 5 or 10 years ago yes ,but I really think his performance for wales have been on the slide for a bit now he's lucky he's got rambo next to him .

So Wez are you saying that Page picks him on reputation and not for his form?
When he had other midfielders at his disposal.
Allen played in 9 World Cup Qualifiers for the last campaign and played 41 times for Stoke last season.
So are you saying Page does not know what he is going?

Wales are hardly blessed with midfield players.
Stoke fans not sorry to see him go.
Pushing on towards 33 by the time the season starts.
Net loss with them losing Downes.
Sadly swansea will still finish above us and challenge for top 6.
Hope Joe is fully fit for the WC though and has a stormer.

Page does have his favourites. I mean he still entertains Johnny Williams and Chris Gunter in his squads yet ignores Tom Lawrence.
I do think he adversely favours Allen. Always looks like he is due a red card.
Great servant to Wales though and not many others to play in his position.

it's not as if he is coming from a major league, he has been in the championship for the last four years in a team that should have done a lot better.
Like most of the Wales players, the extra space and time in international football compared to the championship negates the lack of mobility so he plays better.
But it's a good news story for him and the Jacks

Basically page picks him coz we don't really have anyone to come in in his position,

I tip my hat to you for seeing past the biased opinion most would automatically go with, Joe Allen is quality, he does a job for Wales and he will do a job for Swansea City, if you cannot admit that then you are no football fan
I bet a pound to a pinch of shit people praise him when he has the Wales shirt on but suddenly because his shirt is a Swans one he is suddenly crap? please don't insult us haha
Stoke offered him a new contract- he declined, fans have no idea what they are talking about and that is why they sit in the stands and don't actually do anything football related haha

Take him instead of Vaulks anyday.

His legs have gone though. He's been awful for Wales last few games especially against Ukraine.
If this is that lots replacement for Downes then happy days it's a big downgrade.

I would too, definitely. But WV has gone and I can honestly say that I wouldn’t swap him for any of the current midfielders we have on our books. Much rather young and hungry players with pace. That my opinion.

as a cardiff fan, i wouldn't want him here. if i was a jack, i'd be delighted he signed. simply because of the style of plays. he will sit infront of the swans defence and dictate the play. here we've had his type in marlon pack and it doesnt work out. for Wales he sort of plays a ball winning midfielder, but for the swans he used to sit infront of the back 4 and ping balls about, similar to McPhail for us. good signing for them, wouldn't suit our play here

Its horses for courses.
Obviously, Joe was brought up in the "Swansea Way" and your current manager has an even more extreme version of that, so sitting on the ball in front of the defense and keeping possession will work for you and him.
There is no way in a million years we'll try to play like Swansea although there is a secret sect who would love that (not me). All our midfielders have massive mobility and physicality, from what i see, we are going to be a high press, turnover team, as far from Joe's current skill set as can be.
The player i see for Wales is a different player from the one I have witnessed at Stoke.
The great thing about football is we will see who is right at the end of the season.
