“ Players do return “

Thu Jul 07, 2022 7:23 am

A couple of posters in here keep saying that players don’t return to clubs on loan again, well I’ve seen at least 4 this week return to clubs.

An interesting one again:

Sanderson ( been on loan at Cardiff )

Dion Sanderson is back at Blues!

Blues are delighted to announce the return of Dion Sanderson.

The 22-year-old joins the Club on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers and becomes the first signing by new Head Coach, John Eustace.

This comes 12 months on from him agreeing to another move to B9, during which he made 16 appearances and helped the team record six clean sheets, before a different loan away from his parent club took him to Queens Park Rangers where he worked with Eustace.

It's local to him isn't it, part of our problem for loans is we are out on a limb and players would have to relocate.

We loan and sell a lot to Newport.

Annis i said it's not common and it isn't 4 so far out of how many loans a season?? And as been pointed out there tends to be a reason for same loan of player to a club...... in our case do we want ny players we had last season not to sure given we have replaced them permanently now!!

No we can get loan players and it does not matter if your up where Sunderland, Norwich is or Swansea, if your club is progressing etc it’s even easier.

I am on about we don’t seem to get the good players to ever return after a great loan spell.

Other clubs seem to.

Allan,

I honestly believe and read that clubs from the Premier want their players to go to clubs they believe will be up their challenging and the better the club dies the better for their players.

We seem to fail to get players like Doyle / Giles etc to come back on loans, yet Morison and Glen Williams keep putting out we now have big relationships with these clubs etc.

Its is strange one these two as we seemed to have good relationship with their club also under morison they improved so no particular reason why couldn't come back but wolves looked the problem regarding Giles ... if wanted them to go to challenging clubs why come to city in 1st place ? we were only challenging to stay above relegation zone? Probably more to do With money annis.

Perhaps Morison feels that he doesn't need Doyle or Dramah back as he has much more experience in those respective departments. Don't forget the fact that Dramah was player of the season and that doesn't say much for the overall quality within the club at the time.

Those two players come from Premier League.
We are getting players from as low as the 7th league.

Morison himself said he wanted them both back and raved about them.

see my view on this Annis is that i feel the player has a lot more say in regards to where they go on loan, i have heard seen and heard other people say he wasn't fully sold on Morrison and his style of play, and that's why he looked at going elsewhere on loan. chances are its bulls*it but i think there might be some truth in that.

one of the main reasons though players go to different clubs on loan, its usually players who play midfield and upfront, is to learn and play in different styles and to see how they develop under different pressures, e.g. a team fighting survival and a team fighting promotion. i don't like the fact though we seem to have waited pretty late to bring in any loans, it feels to me we seem to be waiting to see whats left then going for that

Yes I think you say a lot of truth there on all accounts.

The facts are both parent clubs last year stated a condition of the loans were that the players would get alot of first team football. Obviously this season he could make no such promise. We've had success with lower league players before NG, Nelson etc.. And bombed with top dollar players with a better pedigree such as Madine, Murphy etc.The fact they haven't returned is not Morisons fault and there is no proof otherwise except Chinese whispers.
