Agree about cummings, boris since he's left has become a woke eco socialist such a disappointment wanted him to do well and actually deliver on its manifesto.llan bluebird wrote:I voted for him through gritted teeth last election but couldn't touch him now, he clearly is not up to it. It all started to go tits up when Cummings left as daft Carrie thinks she is some kind of political strategist.
This has nothing to do with BBC or Sky news, if he didn't give them so much by lying every time he spoke he wouldn't be up shit creek without a paddle. He doesn't have the application for the position

Now I do understand that civil servants aren't the most popular area of our economy despite them n being on a pay freeze from 2012 until 2018 and then only limited to a 1.5 - 2.0% pay rise in recent years. There probably is room to reduce numbers once they are provided with updated IT in may departments but to reduce on the back of huge backlogs caused by the pandemic it bordering on ineptitudeand will cause even greater delays for those of us trying to get things like a passport renewed (yes I am one of them

You wouldn't run a private business that way. You would invest in IT, equipment, estate, etc., get your business lean and then look to realise staffing benefits (i.e. reduce numbers).

No, I can categorically tell you that the "pandemic recovery" posts were separately funded and most of those went on 31st March 2022, certainly in most of the departments. They were not even included in overall headcount figures for many departments.
In addition, those posts were, in the vast majority of cases, "Agency" staff so can be terminated as soon as the work situation improves if they are already in post. No pension contribution, security of employment so no real long term risk of increasing headcount.

Well thats the official line is that 90k extra staff were take on during the pandemic across all departments and government will be going back to pre pandemic numbers hence the 90k jobs going .I would privatised most of the services like the passport office anyway .

The conservatives will elect a leader within 10 days - my money is on Penny Mordant. In the mean time Labour will take over 6 months to choose a new leader. They have a very long winded and drawn out process , that goes to members, then the conference, then the PLP and then all the Labour members - I think. By the time it ends most of the candidates have bored the public to death and back.
If Labour go for the "ginger growler" (her words) they wont get anywhere - especially after her scum chants and the fact she made up those allegations.
My take on it - we may have 2 female leaders within a few months. Penny Mordant is here

Have you ever worked on a large Govt IT project ? , ever worked on a project where the Welsh Govt chooses to not adopt the central IT system and choses to do some competely different (because they are Welsh Gov) - I have and the wastage and stupid politics involved is staggering as is the petty politics.

Yes I'd rather liars than the loony left, that's for sure. All politicians lie anyway, it's just the clever ones don't get caught out
