Forest prepared to pay £15million

Postby barnet blue » Mon Jul 04, 2022 12:00 pm

Nottingham Forest have reportedly agreed personal terms with Wales star Neco Williams and paying £15m

City Ground boss Steve Cooper has been tracking the full-back for sometime and is a firm admirer of the 21-year-old. The pair worked together at Liverpool during the head coach's time at the club in the youth ranks.

Williams has been deemed surplus to requirements at Anfield since the arrival of Calvin Ramsey from Aberdeen, who has been brought in to provide first-choice right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold with competition.

Welshman Williams spent a successful second half of last season on loan with Fulham and the Cottagers were keen on bringing him back to west London on their return to the Premier League. But they have since turned their attentions to former Newcastle United defender Kevin Mbabu, leaving Forest with a clear run at the Liverpool man.

There remains a stumbling block, though. Football Insider report although Forest have agreed personal terms with Williams, a bid for the right-back has yet to be accepted. Liverpool value him at around £15million, while the east Midlands outfit are believed to have tabled a £12million offer originally, which was rejected. They have now offered the £15million.

Williams wants regular game-time this season ahead of Wales' first appearance at a World Cup in 64 years. He has become an important part of Rob Page's plans in the international set-up, with the manager keen on his players getting minutes under their belts in preparation for the tournament in Qatar.

Cooper has also expressed interest in Williams' international team-mate Joe Rodon, who is inching closer to the exit door at Tottenham.

Would be getting 15-20 games a season at liverpool if he wasn’t Welsh and instead had one of their silly accents

Quality player and a steal at 15 million. I can imagine his sell-on price next year being in the 25-35 million range if he were to perform at the level he does for Wales.

That seems a bargain. He is only going to get better, though not sure if he will stay a fullback but move forward like Bale. That shot he had for Fulham that hit the crossbar from the half way line was unbelievable and shows what a talent he could be.
