Dundee United 'edging closer' to Levitt deal

Dundee United boss Jack Ross says he's hopeful his side are 'edging closer' to sealing another loan swoop for Manchester United midfielder Dylan Levitt, despite strong interest from Cardiff City.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with the Tangerines, and proved a big hit at Tannadice, notching six goals and earning one assist.

Cardiff had been linked with moves for the Wales international. However, new boss Ross is clearly hopeful his side can win the race to sign Levit on a season long loan.

“Tony Asghar has spoken publicly about Dylan and said we have a strong desire to bring him back to the club,” said Ross.

“That process has been going on for a while now — and hopefully we are edging closer to bringing him back.

“That would be brilliant because he was hugely impressive when I came up against him [as Hibs manager] last season. I watched other games and he’s obviously a full international with Wales.

“There is a lot in his profile that fits and he’s one we’ve been working on for quite a while and hopefully we’re getting closer to it.”

If we are seriously in for him it would be a shocker if Dundee beat us to him.

Apparently it’s £300,000 and it’s a pure snip according to reports and sadly City could not compete with the asking price

Surely the club could part with 300k if the player was the "final puzzle piece" for midfield so to speak

Who said he was the “final puzzle piece”?

Perhaps Morison isn’t interested in him.

Why say we should spend 300k when the budget is in place?

He was fantastic for them last season. No surprise they are throwing everything at it to get him now he's been released.

Its rare for a club in Scotland other than Rangers or Celtic to pay a fee for a player but they must have some cash left over from the transfer of Shankland as 300k is a bit outlay for them.
