Cardiff City had made enquiries about Fleetwood Town winger Paddy Lane but are not pursuing as Fleetwood want a substantial fee.

Lane was named the League One player of the year last season, but given it is his first season at that level of football the asking price for his signature was above Cardiff can afford, so Cardiff won't be pursuing further.

Surely we've saved enough on wages to afford to spend on x1 player?

That's if SM was serious about bringing him in

I don't think it was above what we could afford more like above what we are willing to pay.
