Surely Wingbacks Next Season : It appears

Surely Wingbacks Next Season :

It appears to me that Steve Morison has almost certainly set out to play with wingbacks and 3 central defenders . On the right :

With Daley and Romeo added , I believe that SM has already decided to have NG and McGuinness as permanent center Al defenders. Also do not forget that Sang and Semenyo can also play on the right.

On the left : We have added Tanner and Collins in addition to the existing Began.

Central defenders : These are presently earmarked for Nelson , Denham , McGuinness and NG. I believe that one more will also be added. Sean Morrison could be the one …..

but somehow I think not. Morrison is a Trojan and a good leader and very effective at setbpieces (attacking and defending) …….but he is slow and not great on the ball . Somehow maybe his days are up and our new system is not suitable for him.

If used properly, with pace on both flanks, it can be so effective.

I love teams playing like that, always exciting.

I agree Annis. An on form Mendez Lang was a particular favourite of mine. We were over reliant on Drameh last year but it seems there’s some pace in a few of these new signings. :bluescarf:

This is what I have the squad down as soon far. SM tried the 4231/433 a few times towards the latter end of the season. I think that’s his preferred formation but we could very well see a 352/523 in games we want to keep tight.

I don’t think NG will be playing rb/rwb with the additions of Romeo and VDC and like I said in a different thread I don’t think he is physical enough to be a wide cb as teams target him in the air. He played well in CM towards the end of last season and he even looked better at LWB than he did RWB at times too.

Either way, plenty of options already and more signings to come. Looking very positive!

I actually think we’ll play 4-5-1. He’s signed a few wingers who I doubt would be play wing back. We could play 5 at the back, 2 in the mid, 2 wingers and 1 striker but I think it’ll be 4-5-1. We desperately need strikers mind…..

I don’t like the thought of NG being a CB. He always got a mistake In him. He’s a liability in that position in my opinion.

Looking at that team there is still a need for Strikers with pace and quick Centre half to sweep up the balls over the top.

Yeah that team above would probably get relegated as it stands. Really need some firepower and another physical CB. Have major doubts over Nelson and if he is our most experienced CB (without Morrison). More than happy with McGuinness and hopefully we see the emergence of Denham and possibly Connolly too.
