Gareth Bale's agent has rubbished claims from Spanish side Getafe they have been in talks about signing the Wales star.

Getafe president Angel Torres had earlier told Spanish media he had been offered the chance within the last hour to sign Bale on a free transfer now he is out of contract. The suggestion had been Bale may be keen to remain in Madrid, where he has lived and raised his children over the past nine years.

Cardiff City fans are desperate for a deal to be done to bring the Welshman to his hometown club in what would be a stunning coup, and the Getafe claims had slighted dented optimism amid reports up to 10 teams are chasing him. But the Bluebirds remain the bookies' favourites, and one of Bale's agents, Joshua Barnett (son of Jonathan Barnett), has reportedly moved to rule out a Getafe move.

Respected football journalists Fabrizio Romano and Guillem Balague have said Barnett laughed off the rumours on Wednesday evening, saying: "I don’t even have the president of Getafe’s number!" It comes after he had previously suggested Bale's next move is likely to be to the UK and that money will not be a factor in his decision-making.

Could be closer to the truth by reading some comments on Spanish media post ,there president trying to say we are in for players .

If they were close to a deal they wouldn't say it so publicly, out of fear of it falling through.

He hasn't decided anything yet and his agent will be meeting with many clubs, including us.

We are still front of the queue to sign him but as with all signings, there will be a lot of fine details to sort out.

Image rights are a big factor with a player of this calibre.

The agent is I think also trying to look after his own interests. He knows he won't get much of a fee himself if Bale comes here, so is possibly fishing around for as much for himself as he can.

I think so mate, he's not liked out there and going to a competitor would probably make things worse. A move to us and home just makes sense. Fingers crossed.

We are also 2/1 favourites to sign Ramsey and we weren't even in the odds until that story broke that we have apparently signed them both, just silly season and bookies trying to make a few quid would be my guess

Interesting that having helped build up the 'Bale to Cardiff' talks, some of the same are now looking to knock them down

Gareth Bale (through his trusted agent) is inundated with offers but it is a positive that the Bluebirds are well in the mix

Will it happen? Personally, I am more confident of this than I was of Craig Bellamy arriving; and look how that worked out

Of course, rumour and speculation are a staple of any Forum but let's just wait and see what pans out on this one...

Ahh fair enough, only ever heard or read about Jonathan, I so want bale to come here, would be such an amazing signing and the buzz would be unreal
